Matabele

Journey Man
That's the amount of tackles we missed - not acceptable for competitive NRL football.  But most telling are the chief offenders (tackles made in brackets):

T Williams 3/14
S Matai 3/11
A Watmough 3/18
G Stewart 4/28

All our fringe defenders.  Missing a quarter of one's tackles is as good as drawing a big sign on one's head that says "run at me".

Glen Stewart is now one of defensive weak links ??? You are kidding !!

Yeah, teams now know how to beat us - out the flanks.  The middle is good for the most part.  If Williams and Matai are our centres then just watch them to see if they rush out.  If not then run around them and offload.

The most disappointing thing was being up by so many and not scoring a try in the last 40.  Penalties, refs whatever, we just fell apart.

At least it's round 1 and a good lesson.  We had good patches for sure, loved the forwards intensity finally.  Big question, will Hodko come in at 7 and Lyon/Foran do a centre and 5/8 swap?  Gulavao should be good for this week too, against his old team.  Cross maybe in with a chance?
Seu Seu looked ok, enthusiastic which is a good sign.

There were a lot of positives as you suggest.

Forward intensity.
I thought Lyon played very well.
Seu Seu was sharp.
Kicking game good, particularly Ballin out of dummy half.

twentyfive

lyon 3/22 as well

only a few other teams were worse:

bongos 39
cowgirls 41
eels 36
dogs 38
knights 27
Panfers 41
raiders 34
Sharks 29
tits 39
warriors 41
soufs 43
roosters 29

Tigpies got 13

guess we are coming 5th then and the tigpies are taking the title
