the play the ball and offside policing will only last as long as it takes for the commentators to start whingeing about the constant referee interference. they will blame the referee instead of the players doing the wrong thing and things will return to how they were last year

I'm probably late to the party on this (as usual)....but the nrl said a whole bunch recently about the obstruction rule and how they are going to rule more towards the attacking side as the defence are just running into players and falling over and it's deemed obstruction - but NO more!!!

nek minute - cronulla denied a try in the recently played trial when a warrior runs and dives at the lead runner.

That try was disallowed because the lead runner ran straight into the defender and made contact with him with his hands when he had the momentum running at pace. The lead runners need to learn to run into gaps not straight into defenders. I though they got that one right.
