The unwanted (jetsam) flotsam ... report card.

Have to say that we've shown a lot of resilience to pull ourselves out of the rut this time around whereas last year it didn't stop until Siro came back. Lane's form in jersey 12 has a lot to do with that though.
The best thing for Manly was the sustained Media attack.
It made all the newbies aware of the need to defend the Manly Fortress. In one interview, Joel stated that he could not believe the hatred that was directed at Manly by the Media.😕

Kudos to Baz for setting a high value on unity and enforcing his credo when the shiiite hit the fan

We are not out of the rut yet...a slip this week against a lower-placed team and we slip back a long way. We really need this one bad.

Lane's growth has been HUGE for us. Him, AFB and Ned Kelly are our biggest improvers.

I would question Uates A. It wasn't long ago that his form was crap, and there were plenty wanting him banished. Then he's given the news that he isn't wanted beyond this year, and his manager puts it out there he's on the hunt for another club, and then hey presto!, back comes the Uate that was killing it last year....Im a cynical old prick, maybe he just found form?

Post hoc ergo propter hoc

PSS .. you are just a cynical old prick ..... @:D

Yeah, all good Woodsie, but as above for Uate, who's a B+, and this is when the whole team are going well. And Curtis Sironen, who has definitely been and "A" for us, its just that he gets injured a lot: Wish he were playing this weekend !

Over the past two years, much ado has been made over our recruitment policy .... specifically with the sacked, rejected and broken souls from other clubs .....

Just because I'm bored .... I thought it might be illuminating to see how some of these bargain buys and reject bin players have turned out .... and give the player, and Baz, a joint rating for the result ...

Siro .. unwanted at Tigers ..... becoming a solid 2nd rower .... rating B+
AFB .. sacked bad boy .... From reggie to International .... rating A+
Perrett ... unwanted at Doggie's ... Not there yet ..... rating C.
Uate ... unwanted by NewC reggies .... He's back baby! ... rating A
Hasting .. unwanted and sacked for being a numbnut ... still a numbnut ... rating F
Lane ... unwanted at Doggies & Warriors .... ripping in and killing it! ... rating A+
Tanginoa ... in the wilderness in reggies at several clubs ... becoming very useful ... rating B
Suli ,,, 3 clubs ,,sacked for lack of commitment .... too early but a provisional rating .. B

Whilst opinions may vary ... (you will be able to tell the wrong ones because they will disagree with mine) ....

Have I missed anyone?
Mr Plod with a play the ball about as fast as an old man getting out of a bath ,although when he did mange to execute a tackle they did stay tackled ,but over all an F .

Also read a story written by Lloyd Perrett on Players Voice which gives a great view of what is a brutal business on and off the field. And after reading it I say well done Lloyd for what you have achieved and I hope you go onto glory for Manly and so I give you a B+

As stated earlier I didn't include Plod because I believe him to be a genuine buy .... not a reject ....

On Perrett my C was due more to the fact that the difference between his top performance and bottom performance is just too big .... I have seen him produce A games and E games .... but still wish him the best .....

I thought tangles before he got injured was my real surprise of the year. I hadn't expected much from him but he provides so much impact off the bench. Takes the pressure off marty and afb and doesn't give the opposing pack a rest. Reminds me of Joe Galuvao coming off the bench and just running a hundred miles an hour.

@Woodsie

Went for a walk today and found a golf ball with "Aberlour" and it's logo printed on it.

I thought with a name like that it has to be a Scottish Whisky. (well, a place first)

Sure enough...

Steeped in centuries of legend and surrounded by the dramatic Highland scenery of Ben Rinnes, the village of Aberlour lies at the very heart of Speyside, where the Lour burn joins the River Spey.

Then I got thirsty.

Sorry, I have nothing to add to the particulars of this thread.

Everyone gets an "A" !!!! woohoo

Edit: Maybe it's "Jetsam" as that refers to debris intentionally thrown overboard as opposed to flotsam which refers to debris not intentionally thrown overboard.

And you think you were bored... 😛
