and the question also would be - was he worth more in the years he was paid less? Its the prob with most back ended contracts I guess, that being that you enjoyed the fruits of paying unders for a player for a period, but then have bear the weight of the final year(s) knowing in advance you are not going to get that value.

And are players supposed to underperform in the cheap years and over perform in the final years? As you say this is more about accounting than high performance sports.

It's pretty pathetic to keep hearing that Burbo was only signed because of his last name. He was excellent in the juniors and has proven with his development that he is NRL standard. If injuries don't hamper him, 2026 will be his best year yet.

He’s been arguably our best and most consistent forward this year.
