I think you can argue Jake is ahead of Glenn at the same age, but not sure you can make the same case for Tom being better than Brett. Brett did some pretty freakish things even at a young age.

For Glenn, imo having the great Jamie Lyon outside him made him look a better ball player than he was (hence the limited impact in origin).

Imo, this is slightly the same for DCE as well.

Tell you one thing for free. The NRL needs to realise club juniors are important and they need to reflect this in the salary cap.

Every team will have excellent juniors come thru that are world beaters. These guys should get a reduction in the cap.

My idea is that each side gets 3 juniors that as long as they have been at the club before the age of 14 get a reduction. Starting at 20% in year a 2 of first grade. 40% at year 5 and 60% at year 8.

Would need tweaking but would reward clubs and supporters alike. There would still be player movement and marquee signings but would allow boys like the turbos to stay at their home clubs.

Brett couldn't tackle for his first couple of years in NRL. I accept that Brett looked better ball in hand than Tom right now, but Tom will be the complete footballer. Could play any position and dominate.
No knock on Brett, he was a freak
But remember Brett had some awesome players around him. Tom is doing most of it on his own

Toms attitude was great when the doctor, who I will add done the right thing....took him off after a collision with Myles.
I think we just got a look at how he will start spraying his players around the ground as he matures, which is what you want from your fullback.

Yeah I loved this! He was furious at the prospect of not competing in the match for even a minute!

What an awesome thing to be discussing. Many clubs would love to have had players like the Stewart's and all the clubs right now would do anything to have the Turbos.
Happy times.....if we can win s few that is.

Not necessarily. If they limit the junior discount to 2 or 3 players then clubs have to make a decision on rotation of that discount.
If as a team you have your 3 juniors registered for the discount and suddenly you have a tommy turbo on your hands you need to make a decision. Do you register the new young gun up with the view that he will be a superstar at your club for the next 10 years thus making full use of your big discount or do you keep your Hayne or cronk or inglis on the discount? One of the players either old or young will most likely move on thus spreading the talent pool.

It might work.
