I agree with you on this. Can't see how we've regressed when we've only lost one genuine first grade player in Lawton from last year, yet we've added TKO, Tevaga, Patolo, etc.

I have the Dogs in my top 8, but I think there’s a chance they could flop. Last year’s improvement was off the back of effort, more so than talent. Sometimes teams that have to push for everything, can get mentally fatigued and the Gus/Ciraldo regime is pretty intense.

I’ll back them to make the 8, but I think they’re vulnerable to a sudden collapse.

Interested to hear your thoughts on the Dragons, I looked at their squad and think they are short on creativity in the halves.

I see them as a 12-16 squad.

I have them for spoon but jeez their backline movements looked good in that first half of charity shield…

Holmes and Gutho definitely improve their attack but they are light on in forwards and I can’t see that spine getting them a better than 50% win rate over the course of the year…

Yeh they don’t have much quality or depth in the halves, though some highly promising younger forwards that may get a chance.

I don’t think it’s always as cut and dry and what Manly do…there’s other clubs that have recruited better than Manly and if they get their game on, could beat an improved Manly, regardless. Brisbane are probably the best example. They’ve added Ben Hunt and new coach that seemed capable of lighting a fire under the NSW Blues. Broncos underperformed last year. If they get it right, they take a spot in the 8 and that might push others down.

It’s hypothetical, no one knows what will happen. But I do think it’s worth factoring in the potential improvement of other clubs into the equation.

My big hope with Manly is that the continuity of our roster is one of our strengths in 2025, offsetting our lack of big name recruits. I’ve also seen clubs recruit big names that flop.

Interesting times ahead, indeed!

I think our star players are tired (Turbo, Jurbo, Chez and Ola) from years of being surrounded by mediocrity and I think they have missed their window. Big reason why they have not featured in trials. Seibo is trying to keep them fresh for a final push.

There are just too many livewire teams out there with young hungry talent now. I see Manly running 9th.

The only player I am excited about is Hoppa TBH.
