The sky is falling....

I agree we traditionally go better with a Manly man as head coach, but the players have obviously bought in to whatever Barrett is selling and that is good enough for me.

We have only had 2 previous non-Manly coaches ... we have no idea whatsoever how we would have gone with more. It has always amused when I hear we only win with ex-Manly coaches ... when you don't employ anyone but ex-Manly coaches.

There are probably 2 main ways to rate a coaches' success.

1) Winning a premiership .... (given that only about 70 odd coaches have managed to do this in 110 years out of over 900 coaches would mean a lot of good coaches are considered failures)

2) Is the team/club in a better position than the one he inherited ...

Agree with @Woodsie there's a lot of butt hurt out there. hope you all find some relief ...
Plus it's a bit premature to go off this hard after 1 week, so some of this might do some good too.

P. Sharp's tenure left a deep scar which I suspect gives life to that thought, for some supporters.

Be careful using logic you'll scare people away........

Welcome back @conanu Ive missed you buddy!!

And the sky never falls, it just feels like it at times.

As someone else said in the thread, if we can learn from last weeks mistakes I think we will get the Eels.

Their backline is very good, their forward pack is average at best.

As soon as the Panthers started giving it to them up front they folded like a sack of ****.

I think we will need more forwards on the bench AND use them, less errors ( might improve anyway) and we really need to minimise Penalties NO TALKING BACK!

Simple changes and we’ll roll them on Sunday.

Cheers mate, and now you are here again, STAY!!!

You were going half ok starting with .. let it go ... and then you showed the true colour of your undies by dredging up this ridiculous piece of mythological garbage, straight from the "I hate Barrett and my bum hurts handbook."

And if tossers didn't crawl out from under the fridge every time we lose a game screaming "it's all Barretts fault , he should of taught Tom how to tackle by now" ...
then there would be no need for a police circle jerk

Simple fact is I would prefer Jack Gibson to be coaching us ... but he is ****ing dead .. so Barrett 's the Manly coach and therefore has my 100% support .... and as such I will defend him against bull**** abuse from slimy Parra fans and from bum sore white-ant Manly fans.

Can you explain where I said "Sack Barrett" or mentioned anything about it being his fault? Any problems we have at the moment are not of his doing. I actually have learned to like him and believe at this moment in time he is our best option. He did a good job last year and deserves his job this year. I merely mentioned that he has achieved no more than barely making a finals series last year, is not a reason for you to claim that the decision to sign him has been the right one. Maybe time will tell, but certainly stirring this stuff up every time someone has an opinion that differs to you is not doing anyone any favors.

Ha ha thanks Mark, I never left, I was always here. A move back overseas had my time spent on other things. I may be posting at random times now but I will always stick solid on the site, I love Silvertails warts and all, I love a good whinge & wallowing in a pit of despair for a bit of comfort every now and then.

Once again When did I mention anything about appointing a Manly coach. Do you even read the posts before you stir more garbage?

Let's try what all great clubs do: make rash changes week to week, leave the coach feeling like he's constantly on the verge of being sacked and constantly remind the youth that they are unproven and worthless!
Yes the Silvertails sword of Damacles dangles above the heads of the young and inexperienced waiting for the snap judgment and dramatic tap of the enter key, before falling on said young and untried heads ,alas another victim of the keyboard heroes who haunt the ST forum!

Woodsy for god sake will you let it go, Who do you think you are, the positivity police? None of us ever wanted Barrett to fail, but we were concerned about his garbage coaching record previous to him back dooring our club legend. That obviously doesn't bother you but some of us here were annoyed about it.We are happy to move on, clearly you want to keep stirring up old shyte. I know I was concerned about us becoming a team that is brilliant in patches and mediocre for the most part, just like Barrett was. Unfortunately at the moment that is what we look like, we are so much like a St George team now it is not even funny. Just be aware your hero Barrett has achieved nothing of any note yet, just keep that in mind before you start the next positivity police circle jerk.

backdooring a club legend?????

Don't let facts get in the way of a good story hey

The Sky is falling?

And Goosey Loosey checked Henny Penny's arms for fresh bruises and puncture marks....

And here's a picture (some of you will get it 😛 )

Gotta agree gav.

Don’t like the way it went down with tooves. But that was all the Greek and the immortal clown.

Can’t blame Barrett he was offered a job and took it and after a poor first year in 2016 he’s done a really solid job since.

Read mine again .. nowhere did I mention you .... in fact you can see it was a reply to Mave. ... don't go all paranoid on me ....

You attacked me in your first post ... don't go all cry baby when you get it back ...

PSS I also never said that I thought the decision to hire him has been the right one ... What I said was that he IS the coach we have, and as the Manly coach I will support him. Not white-ant him.

For the record I think he has done a very good job building this team of misfits and cast-a-ways into a working unit. If you add that last year we had some $1.3 million of salary cap unavailable, plus being $1.2 (800 + Myles) under spent this year, he has done a remarkable job. That equates to 2 $600k elite players not on the roster ... I am sure they would change the whole shape of our team if we had them.

I don't know if he will go on to get us a premiership ... only a few coaches succeed ...but until such time as he proves himself incapable. he deserves a chance.

I wonder if we will ever get a fair go and be able to actually spend our full cap?
