I have never been in the optimism column what is that like?.

I just don’t buy this squad. We have too many ordinary players. The only superstars we have are Tommy, Ola, Hoppa and DCE but Tommy is so far in front of everyone else it’s stupid, and we just can’t get him on the park.

Tend to agree, though Koula could eventually rise and there's Paseka. There's some good players out there such as Garrick, Bullimore, Brooks, Burbo, Saab, even Talau but they are not game breakers and need the star players to create the opportunities. Jake was a top ranker but not now

Koula just might go to Perth, probably with a Trbojevic or two.

Yeah, we have some fringe First Graders in our team. But we are missing more than footballing talent, and that is resilience. The majority of our players might think they are giving 100%, but our woeful defence in recent weeks shows a lack of commitment.
We have shown commitment a few times this year, most notably against Penrith, the 'Boys (2nd encounter) and Brisbane. It comes down to desire, and obviously we only have this infrequently.
It seems, at season's start, that Boldy and the administrators had generated a club spirit with the 'Manly Way' program. Now it seems like this 'culture' was marketing type because our last two losses were down to a lack of passion for the jersey. I conclude that if a coach can't get his players mentally 'Up' for a match then he has failed in his job. He seems a nice guy but we need a different directtion. Plus a lot more young, enthusiastic players, not journeymen.

Seeing as though we now have a thread titled "We are [the] Laughing stock of the NRL" and are sitting a lofty two points above last place, I'm guessing any remaining optimism is down to the effects of prescription medication.
