I was keen to post this thread at 20mins.

But how good was the reffing.

Its not often we give credit to the ref but he had a great game. I would even go as we lost the penalty count.

Its a far cry from last week. Chechinn showeed why he was number one ref today. So fair and it made it a great game. Been years since ive see a fair penalty count.

I felt we were gonna lose on penalites alone this week but Im happily surprised.

its amazing how much better we look when not playing against the ref.

Wish every game every week was reffed properly.

The tigpies win was even better than the scoreline indicates beating the very poor reffing.

It used to be Checcin that i knew would rob us. These days i fear Peranare (spelling). Not sure if he has reffed us since that panther dibacal last year.

Peranara is the worst. Pretty sure he was in charge for the tigers game

There was a lot of penalties.
But it was for both teams and I can cop that.
If the refs keep it up then ultimately it will sink in.
Like play the balls and releasing the tackled player. I still think they don't call held quick enough when a blokes standing up not going anywhere.
But good luck to them.
Enforce the rules and p*ssants like Moses might keep his trap shut.

Reffing was crap

22 penalty’s is pathetic in a game

They need to ref with their mouth not the whistle

Last night storm v Tigers there was 38 penalty’s!!!

Checcin is the benchmark at the moment. He's improved out of sight, I agree Perenara is the worst.

Most of the refs that have gone on to 300 games seem to get a lot better and fairer over time, even old cement truck was good in his last few years, Archer as well. Shame Hayne was the exception.

I think it comes down to having the confidence to back yourself verses the threat of being fired if you do not do as told by the powers that be.

In respect of ref decisions, the crowd was equivalent to an additional player today. Wish we could have finals at Brookie/Lottoland again.

Agree, strone. Twenty-two penalties is better than 38, but still way too many. Parramatta were still gifted field possession and repeat sets of six, and a lot of the time I had no idea why. Boys did well to hold them out in that heat.

They're penalising the so-called 'flat' passes the commentators call.
I don't mind the penalties given (or received) as long as it's consistent from the first minute to the eightieth and from Round 1 to Round 26.

I'm fine with the penalty counts this early in the season. The ref's are just trying to stamp their mark early to get rid of bad habits developed over the off season and to remind teams they won't get away with crap. If the high penalty counts continue through the season then the ref's need to either calm down or start sending players off for repeat offences. All in all though I feel the refereeing so far has been very fair.

Chechin seemed way better than last season but its early days and i was waiting for the square up yesterday.I dont think they could have stopped Manly with landmines.

The only ridiculous penalty I can remember is on the 4th or 5th with parra pressing our line, Moses passes it above the winger’s head over the sideline. Manly penalized for offside. Parra ball, another set of 6 in the red zone.
