The Realistic Cleanout

I think it is money and its because it was not a 1st grade centre or wing salary that was being offered.

Again, no player gets to ask for a guaranteed position in the team, particularly players not regularly in 1st grade.

My guess he was offered back up backline salary, and he has decided to try for a 1st grade salary elsewhere.

Fair enough , we’ll agree to disagree

Jake ain't it. Not anymore.
Heart still loves him but he's below average now, we won't move forward with him at 13 and he makes zero meters, post contact or off loads so can't be a prop
But surely he can’t be lock either , maybe a couple of 20 minute stints as prop ??

Gotta get some value out of $950k

Yes Jake is heart and soul, i would have him off the bench only

yes he can defend, take 250k off him, pay all the forwards another 50k each to lift thier defence and you should have a better result than
-jake being gassed,
-not making any post contact meters
-giving away ruck penalites

If he was "heart and soul" he'd retire now, all he's doing is holding us back now on his $1.2M (let that sink in) when he wouldn't even take one run in his last game!

(Yes, not his fault his contract is back ended)

Imagine coming home to your wife and saying I've given up 1.2million because old mate on the Silvertails forum reckons thats what soneone who loves Manly should do...

In what world...

We knowingly offered and stuctured a deal to our benefit, Jakes effort is not in question. He is owed his deal.

We shop or pay him and I think we'd be foolish to shop him.

Yep, his defence is still good enough to have him as a bench player. I think he knows when it's time to give it away. Everyone can see that he's having trouble competing in attack and frankly, I don't reckon Tom would let him go on if he started getting embarrassed on the field.

And I think he and TKO are really needed to help bring on the young blokes we are trying to develop. Save any further injuries, one more year could see them both out and then hopefully he'll be offered a role in the club. He's too valuable as a clubman.
