The Realistic Cleanout

With regards to Jake, I apologise for mistakenly reading the title of this thread as the "realistic" clean out. Is it realistic to think that Jake Trbojevic will be kicked out of Manly before his current deal expires?

Releasing Saab may seem counter-intuitive, but if we are to recruit 2-3 promising forwards, on top of planned upgrades, we will need to free up some additional cap space. It would also have to be at the expense of someone of reasonable market value. And since we look to be re-signing Talau, Saab is the one I personally would look to off-load (remember, Garrick will most likely be shifting back to wing to accommodate Turbo).

I agree with the majority of what you write but you say we must bring fresh new forwards whilst not "decimate" our backs. Releasing 1 back is hardly a decimation. And to think we can balance our roster better without making any compromises at all is not just "unrealistic", it's actually a little ridiculous.

Go Manly
If Garrick is shifted to the wing permanently he’d be $1.01 to be the guy leaving. The only reason he stayed was because he was promised the centre position. It’s also hard to try justify paying him $500k-$600k going forward as a winger when you could have Talau & Saab whose contracts together is probably only $400-$500k.

As a centre you could argue it’s not a horrible deal but if he’s a winger he should not be close to earning what To’o does. The fact Fogarty is a goal kicker also doesn’t do Garrick any favours. Perth Bears will no doubt be lining up for him November 1

Bye 👋👋👋

He's very hot and cold as a player, especially at centre and as a goal kicker.

There's a reason he moved straight back to the wing.. it was never going to be Koula who would lose his centre spot..and Turbo is a auto selection over Garrick..sad but true.

I don't mind Garrick as a centre but I've always thought he was a better wingman..his defensive reads at centre are average.. although he has a good go.

Garrick a top twenty games played maybe one or two would be at centre.

He was a good winger, people forget.

I think Seibold is a dead man walking, so I imagine there will be a slight change of direction come November.

It's only been three years since Des was shafted, same CEO (for once), so I imagine it'll be two weeks after the grand final, and if I had to put a date on it, I'd say the 16th of October.

First signing (Garrick extension) came about five days before the club announced Seibold as head coach, in November 2022. I expect that'll probably be similar for whatever we do then. I'd say 11th of November onwards is when we'll make our first signings.

Until then, I genuinely cannot see us making any signings. I don't see the club listening to Seibold's advice, when they know that they want him gone. He has "full support of the board". Yeah right.

Remember, it was about this time in 2023 that we signed Brooks, Talau, and Paulo in one go. We got Simpkin this time last year. We haven't signed a single player since Fogarty in April.

I think a solid second rower, front rower and hooker. I feel Lehi and turbo will be sharing the fullback role moving forward. Play Walsh at 5/8 with fogarty at 7. Brooks to super league
1. Turbo/lehi
2. Lehi/talua
3. Koula
4. Turbo/talua
5. Saab
6. Walsh
7. Fogarty
8. Paseka
9. New signing - Mahoney/da Sylva
10. New signing - Hass/carrigan quality
11. New signing - not sure who but damaging runner
12. Ola
13. Jake
14. Simpkin
15. Jazz/burbo
16. Bully
17. Cheap young prop

With DCE/Brooks/ Aloia/ lodge/ Tod moving on and maybe Garrick we will have cash to use

See what you're saying but I'd like us to promote Navale and really give him some experience and match fitness. More he plays the more minutes per game will improve. He is strong fresh but peters off. Flog him in a few games so he knows what he has to do. I think he has the making of something good and would make that #11 spot. Really the whole teams playing crap so why not and also, he's doing better than some of the others. I like the idea of da Siva & Haas.

I agree. Prop and second rower should be priority. We should have money to spend
