Waylon was one of the original outlaws of country music because he resisted the strong arm of Nashville. He thought it was funny. Here's a not so fun fact, but a fact all the same...as well as being a fighter, drinker and all round good bloke (lol)...Waylon was great mates with Buddy Holly. He even played temporarily for Buddy's band, The Crickets. He was supposed to have a seat on that ill fated flight during the '58/'59 tour but he pulled out at the last minute...offering his seat to The Big Bopper who was suffering from a bad head cold.
