Correct me if I'm wrong, but if we were to implode, it's more likely to occur in late October / early November, correct? That is the most logical time, as it's after post-season reviews, and both players and staff enter their new contract periods.
Importantly, contract clauses come into play past that point.
Now, if I'm being the optimist here, Penn is saying "Seibold is here to stay", just to delay the inevitable implosion until November, when he can pay him, and whoever else gets sacked, less. It will likely cost the club more to sack him or others now.
Also, if we are interested in any prospective replacements, some may not be willing to engage in our mess until they finish their current contracts elsewhere on November 1st. Matt Ballin springs to mind.
