The Jazz thread ... all that Jazz

Wouldn’t have minded it being a swap deal for Caius Fa’atili from Wakefield Trinity. I have been watching him since he was 15 and always surprised he hadn’t made NRL debut by now, backtower, moved over to Super League this season and has turned into a cult hero, scored a ripper of try from his own half in one game

Its also been reported that both jake and tom are on back ended deals next season chewing up more cap though
I thought backended deals were banned by the NRL some years ago (prior to Tom & Jake's current contracts)?

Need a contract to swap

Never thought id see a white ginger with a surname like fa'atili. I must be getting old lol

Great workrate from Jazz, and he's got an attitude that no one else in our pack has - pure competitiveness.

I imagine that the SL side has offered him a multi-year deal, that no NRL side would offer. Shame to see him go. Great player, just wish he could play at lock every week...

Hopefully this means Navale gets that spot next year.

Haha same feeling I had when I saw him ! He was 15 playing club footy against men and held his own, dominated NZ rep level while still a teenager, went over to Qld in NRL systems but spat out of that early

Is the type of player we need

Sorry to see Jazz go ,has been very effective at 13 for us,although again not given an uninterrupted go at 13, and can fill in anywhere in the forward pack, giving great utility value.
TBH would have been happier to wave good bye to Lodge(unless he surprises me on friday) or Croker, Sippers or maybe Jurbo (as much as I love him) to SL next year(que outrage and STs hate mail !!)
Anyways if we can jagg TDS and another good 2nd Rower and toppish tier Prop with all the comings and goings that would be an improvement

He has been one of our better performers this season but we need a complete overhaul of the pack. Tevaga will do a job but he is not elevating us to premiership contention. I also think Brown’s re-signing after one solid year is anecdotal evidence of the gamble one takes with forwards on the wrong side of 30. Sure, Jazz might have been a handy squad player for next year, but we are in big trouble if we can’t offset the loss of a player of his calibre.
Isn't there some younger and mobile forwards that Manly can elevate from NSW Cup

7 News ....
Manly have lost forward Jazz Tevaga to the Super League after the Samoan international opted to sign with Wakefield Trinity from next season.
AAP understands that Tevaga has signed a two-year deal with Trinity, after knocking back the option to stay with the Sea Eagles.

One Wonders about the Jazz Motive ?
It certainly was not a Manly Motive to Stay
One Wonders about the Seibold Manly culture ?

Probably the fact he was offered more $$ and a longer contract at Wakefield.Good decision by Manly to not compete

By all reports 2026 now without contracts for DCE, Aloiai, Tevaga, Sipley, Schoupp, Matterson, James, GCKT, possibly Arthur, and Vaega. Maybe 3.5M?

In comes Fogarty, Large, and Laifai. Maybe 1M?

I'm assuming we are not spending 2.5M on upgrades, in addition to the finished Schuster payout.

Recruitment have a lot to get done
