The Guthersation

I've always liked Gutho. He is passionate, he is extremely versatile and always gives 1000 percent. He'd be a great acquisition. He'd be extremely handy at fullback when Turbo is injured or unavailable for origin duty. With Walker's days numbered and Api's rumoured links with the Tigpies his move to Brookie is a realistic possibility IMO. If Des really wants him I think Gutho is ours.
Yup and I've always thought in recent years we've been a bit light on for genuine leaders, whether or not they have the (C) or (VC) next to their name. When we've been through really successful dominating periods in the comp we've always had a half dozen blokes in the team that could have capably captained us. Interesting times!

I think the truth is that while Des would like him, he would chew a decent chunk of cap for a guy who wouldn't play fullback. Decent centre/wings can be had for $2-300k. Parker and Suli are progressing and there's a multitude of excellent young prospects coming through ... just can't see how Gutho finds a spot in this jenga puzzle

Taking into account the additional 300 k N R L imposed fine on Manly removed next season , Hodko "s contract amount available for 2020 , would be getting closer to a realistic level for a Gutho move to Manly . and as a 6 . Maybe a T P A available to kick in . Croker to then offer very useful back up utility roles regardless of his recent good 6 form . Still can not see him warranting 700 plus k but 600 - 650 in the present circumstances and with his additional versatility value , maybe . Guess that it will be all apparent soon enough .

There is the other option of Gutho and T.T. interchanging between centre and full back. Nothing to stop players switching about as the need occurs. I remember how effective that was with Sterling and Taylor in the early 80s. Still think I'd like to wait regarding 5/8 for young Schuster, if he stays.

In a recent interview at Bankwest Stadium, Turbo was asked whether he'd like Gutherson to return to Manly. He said yes, that he was a great player and that he just bumped into him at the stadium wearing a Manly polo. When Katie Brown remarked that Gutherson likes to play fullback, Turbo replied if Gutherson returns he'd be happy to play on the wing. This was tongue-in-cheek type of banter - not to be taken seriously...

Talk about Gutherson @ 30:24

Gutho & Ferguson have developed a lethal combination bringing the ball out from the back at Parra.

Imagine the combination Gutho & Tom could develop?

Anywhere in the backline Gutho would be a good fit, especially at 5/8th.

He'd be a perfect fill in for Tom during SOO duties & injuries (touch wood).

I reckon he'd be perfect back at Manly.

Imagine a spine chockful of Manly juniors? Tom, Gutho, DCE & Fainu.

How good would that be???

“I bet you wish you had a stadium like this (WankBest)”

“Brookie’s better than this!”

Love you Tommy

Most Parra fans probably wouldn’t have picked up on it, but I gather from that video that Moses is leaving it up to his management...

(Which is usually code for “I’m leaving for more money”)

Has been a theory going round that Isaac Moses who manages Kearney and Seibold orchestrated the Nikorima to warriors deal, and also manages Nikorima, has done that to open up a spot at Brisbane for his other client, Mitchell Moses

Do not write off Croker at 5/8 .... this kid has only played about 12 games over the past 3 seasons ... normally a players most formative years ....... and still comes out in a pressure match and goes MOM ......

This kid might be just as good as Foran .... if not better ......

... note I said might ... need to see a bit more of him but I have got that feeling in me water ......

He played halfback for the representative sides earlier in his career. (Probably late 80’s) It used to be a toss up between him and Brandy Alexander at the time. However, his versatility definitely earned him a spot on the pine in both those sides on quite a few occasions as well.

From WIKI at least.

Hasler made his début for Australia in the third test of the 1985 Trans-Tasman Test series against New Zealand at Carlaw Park in Auckland, coming into the team at the expense of Queensland halfback Mark Murray. Unfortunately his début was soured with the Kiwis defeating Australia 18–0.

Hasler's value as a utility player led to his frequent selection on the bench in representative football. Hasler played 13 State of Origin matches for New South Wales (7 from the bench, 3 at halfback, 2 at five-eighth and 1 at lock),

Hasler also played in twelve test and World Cup matches for Australia between 1985 and 1991, with his utility value seeing him start 9 of those games from the bench
