[Resurrected] The Evolution of Manly 2003-2024

2025 team updated. No finals this year, after a brief foray back into top 8 last year we finished a disappointing 10th.

29 players used in total this season, which is a little bit under the average of the last few seasons. 3 of those were one game wonders, Arthur, Chee Kam and Walsh, and another 5 of those players played 5 games or less. Croker, Paseka and Aloiai were three of the experienced players who went down with injury and barely played at all this year.

Once again Luke Brooks wins the iron man award for 2025, playing every minute of every game. Ethan Bullemor and Jazz Tevaga also didn’t miss a game, but spent time on the pine in most matches

Top 30 squad members who failed to get a game at all this season were James (he was released mid season), Matterson and Tuaimalo Vaega

We only had 3 players make their Manly debut this year, which is the lowest amount of debutantes in a season since 2012. Walsh was the only one of those to make his NRL debut. Not sure if that is a reflection on our lack of recruitment and junior ranks, or the stability of our roster.

Koula was leading try scorer with 17 tries, with only Garrick (12) and Saab (10) of the others able to crack double figures on the meat pies. Garrick was leading point score of course with 176, taking him past 1300 career points. He should pass Killer next season to move into 2nd overall behind Wombat for club career points. Those on the Mad Monday nudie run include Tevaga, TKO and Jake. If you like numerology then the team scored 555 points this season, make of that what you will.

Other players used but not on team list – Aloiai (5), Brown (12), GCKT (2), Chee-Kam (1), Croker (4), Faulalo (8), Navale (7), Paseka (3), Schoupp (4), Talau (13), Walsh (1)

Comparing 2024, and 2025, it’s easy to see our shortcomings. That 8-10, and bench, is abysmal.

Here’s hoping 2026, we have better luck with injuries.
