The DCE Truce

Loobs

Living in the demountable.
Nice of Bulldog to man up and call it as it is:

DCE is the man of the hour

I have taken a few pot-shots at Manly's Daly Cherry-Evans over the years.

He wasn't well-liked by former teammates and isn't a favourite of the current NRL media contingent.

Some even suggested he was smug.

But it's time for a truce.

This bloke has been absolutely magnificent this season.

Fans demanded he step-up after signing his $10m deal - and he has done just that.

His late, left-footed golden point field goal on Sunday against New Zealand - kicked into a strong wind - was special.

DCE is single-handedly guiding Manly into the finals. He now owns this Manly side.

He even seems to be trying to patch up any dramas with the media.

On the field, he looks comfortable. Off it, he seems happy.

DCE is now in total control of his game.

The media get stuck into him and so do our own supporters.

Can't believe that this guy can win us so many games this year and possibly drag us into the finals and he still gets smashed by our own fans.

Bottom line is, we have overachieved this year and he has been the reason.

He can't win every game for us but without him we'd be 14th or lower.

While others that started the season well have gone off the boil, eg: Walker, API and taupau, he's still winning games.

Even turbo gets more accolades and he has been terrible at times.

I'm glad we have DCE and about time one of the journos wrote a column like that.

Well done dean Ritchie and thank you Cherry.

I would have pressed the"agree"button but your last line giving Ritchie a wrap prevented me from doing it.He wouldn't have written his story without an ulterior motive or a nudge from Peters

Truce - WTF 😡

The Media lambasted Chez with vitriol - it was not a two way attack.:shake:

Chez has nothing to call a truce on as he was being bullied and not contesting a position 😎

Glad we have kept a self assured and talented man, to set an example for the young players :inlove:
Webster was out and out bullying but he seemed to realise what a ****wit he was being almost immediately and backed right off.

You are right about it being a one way street though but with the media you take what you can get and I'll take the recognition of his efforts even if Bulldog is Zorba's stooge...

So the premise is -'Your team mates hate you, you have no friends, you're not a man of honour ( for exercising a valid negotiation option), your a 10 million dollar mistake'

'Now answer my inane questions and don't make me feel insecure, as I have a job to do'

'Truce , well just until I want to attack your character and talent again, to sell papers'

You call making 63 tackles last week and players played against the Tigers, going off the boil? API has been one our best during this slump.

Funny, no-one was saying this last week when we were belted by lowly Canterbury or the week before when we gave up a 20-6 lead at halftime to last placed West Tigers whilst playing for a top four spot.

In all my years of following Manly, I have never seen a player who has pulled us from the jaws of defeat right at the death more the Cherry, and that even goes for Fulton, his ability to get us out of trouble when all seems lost is uncanny.

There isn't a player in the league that i would swap for him when a clutch play like that is required. He has been outstanding for us in the Golden Point games.

I like Api and he has been so good for us this year.

He hasn't been as good as his mid year form but i'm still happy with him.

His bullet like pass to Cherry to kick the field goal was fantastic. He usually gets bagged for his inaccurate passing but that was beautiful and a reason why Cherry had an extra second to kick it.

The point being you can't be at the top of your mark all the time.

Cherry has been for most of the year and has been a major reason for us being so high up the ladder. Api, Tapau, Walker haven't been as dominant but i feel they have another level to go to.

Tom turbo is brilliant at times but has some rough edges that he needs to work on. Which he will....and he will guide us into the finals with Jake for many years to come.

I'm just glad they have DCE with them.

There aren't many on here that are bigger fans of Daly than me but even they would have to admit he's had a quiet month.

Agreed, as have most of our team.

The difference is that DCE pulled the game and our season out of the fire with those 2 field goals. His form has been down on mid year as well but still wins games for us.

The plays by Turbo to take the runs to get into the field goal position and quick play the balls were great by him but on the last set i saw Cherry take a 20 metre run on his own and then get back into position to pot the field goal.

Great play and well worth a pat on the back.

He has been great this year he always gives 110% in defence has a few errors in him but don't we all. A great captain this year hope he picks something up at the dally m's he deserves it.

He was fine against the tigers although we all knew he had had a rough week with the cold that was a good enough reason to warrant him a week off. We should've just played Hastings at halfback that day
