Guess that it is basically a like for like in Davey replacing Waddell . Waddell was a competitor for Manly , not a world beater of course but a good vigorous and depth player . Hopefully Davey can offer the same and maybe even a bit more .

Yep, agreed. I rated Waddell, except for his hands. He was very keen and committed, but probably too small really for that middle role he played for us mostly. And his passing/catching anywhere wider than first receiver wears poor. From what I’ve seen of Davey he is bigger, equally energetic and committed, and possibly more skilful.
