The Clean Out 2025 Edition

Obviously this is a different team but relates to cleaning out a club, not one player on this starting line up is still at the club, pretty interesting to see such a brutal clean up, i dont think Manly need to do anywhere near as many but interesting nonetheless

What ever happened to Lachlan Lewis, had some good games, and was a great 1 on 1 defender.

Always amusing to see the panic in some of these threads.

Admittedly I've been unable to watch the last two games and by all accounts we have been poor but we remain 2 points off 4th.

Now, not saying things are rosy, not saying we dont need to make changes, improve our pack, inject sone youth and better balance our squad.

However some of the posts with a machete to the squad, cutting 10 plus players, having Large, Large/Zaidas, Walsh all starting.....hysteria

Yes, he did have a couple of good games in a dismal period for the club. He also had some absolute shockers. Do you remember the sin bin in 2021, when he randomly threw Codie Walker to the ground? That was his last FG game. That same year he tried to sell a soundbar (provided by the NRL for players during lockdown) on Ebay and was sacked.

Lachlan really lacked enterprise with the ball and was essentially there to kick the ball; some of his last tackle options were atrocious and he was let go. I think the surname and relation to Wally really helped his profile.

There were two secret weapons in that clean out; Gus Gould and Laundy's purse. Somehow, with the club in the toilet, they were able to attract some serious recruits and find a home for each and every cast off. Winners are grinners but to flip an entire squad in such a short space of time, says to me that the coin on offer was very enticing. Uncle Nick must have loaned his sombrero to Gus.

Don't know which of Politis or Laundy is richer but both are way up there. That brings serious advantages for players beyond the realm of the salary cap.

Spot on ….we need someone to own the club who has the same vision and passion as these two . The roosters in particular also offer investment opportunity and employment opportunity to those players who have bled for the club.

Gus Gould is the club whisperer. Bringing in Ciraldo, getting the football department to run to its potential, streamlining and building up a junior pathways program, seem to be even more effective than having a super rich owner (although this obviously helps).

Frank Ponissi is probably the biggest loss in our recent history. A complete clean out is impractical, but having a top football manager, CEO, and head coach, is absolutely necessary

That team would probably beat the current Manly team .....the team we are going to send out next week will be diabolical.

You missed the 3rd "secret weapon". That's a guy called Cameron Ciraldo. He was a big part of the attraction for new players and today has got the Dogs playing some beautiful football. They are relentless in both attack and defence. Towards the end of the game against Souths, they were awarded a penalty goal right in front of the posts. Leading by a mile, they still elected to tap. Now that is the mindset I would think all coaches aspire to. There is no reason Manly cannot follow this model.....starting with a cleanout and a 2-3 year rebuild.

We're also 2 points off 16th lol. But ladder position at this stage is not the thing that is concerning
