The Anthony Seibold Grievances MEGA THREAD

Whilst I agree, it still didn't excuse the woeful defense that let Garner stroll through the middle nor the non attempt to catch the cross kick that gave them another try.
Yeah can’t disagree , we were ****.

But my point still remains, for 10 minutes we were AWSOME.

Then the ref took us out of the game , and once he did that we could never get back into it , although to their credit , they never gave up.

He’s doing a good job I reckon working with a **** roster with overpaid under producing players he has got the best out of bargain recruits.

Jurbos contract is too large for Vlandys Ball. Shuster is getting paid for nothing. Tom has been injured. We don’t have a hooker. We don’t have the 3rd party power of the big teams and certainly don’t get any favour from the media or refs.

Still we made the 8 and look threatening. We have obvious gaps in our roster but are plastering over them by concentrating on our strengths and not getting into a grind.

I don’t think any team that avoids the grind is due to a lack of players, it’s primarily due to a weak mindset. Our primary issue is we refuse to enter the grind. I personally don’t think you can win finals games trying to throw cut out 20 metre passes in our own 20, 10 points down but let’s hope Siebold proves me wrong

Didn’t know Seibold was on the field ??

Do you really think he stands there and screams at them at half time and say “ make sure you throw plenty of 20 metre passes , on our own line , when we are down on the scoreboard “, seriously ???

The players make those decisions , they are desperate to make up ground and this action is 100% on them!!

If it works , they are geniuses.

More often it fails , and then the coach is a Dud.

Fair dinkum !!

I don’t think you can say it’s a coincidence that the dogs have developed a backbone after Ciraldo implemented his defensive system.

I don’t think many would argue that teams who play under Des play with a centralised attack surrounding the FB (Snake, Barba, Turbo, Kini).

I also don’t think you can argue that Brisbane shared a similar game to ours when Siebold was at the helm. The head coach plays an integral role to the game plan and mindset of the players. Siebold on many occasions has stated that as a team we aren’t afraid of playing to our what he perceives to be our strengths. I do agree that the players are responsible for their actions (ie Saab catching the ball, or Koula not being so permissive) but I am fair dinkum about the head coach taking responsibility for the style of game we play.

I watched his press conference after the Tigpies defeat. I think he got it mostly right and everyone knows if you whinge about the officials you are cooked. Its sad that while coaches and players are accountable for their actions, officials are protected for their inept displays.

Seibold must do something about the teams lapses that have caused us to fritter away at least 5 wins this season and our defence just is too soft under pressure, you see time and time again, the ball is lost, then its a 6 again or a penalty and try is conceded. How many times have we conceded back to back tries?? If we are ever going to challenge for a top 4 position, this is something that needs immediate improvement!

It’s no coincidence either that the Bulldogs have spent a motza on quality players.

And it’s also no coincidence that the Titans are performing exactly as Manly did under Des , yes , down the bottom.

Of course the coach has an impact on the game plan & tactics but let’s not confuse tactics with player ****ups.

It’s no coincidence that when our forwards are on top we are almost unstoppable, when they are on the back foot , we are woeful.

Is that the coaches fault or the players ??

In your mind it’s the coach.

In mine it relates directly to the players , the coach can only do so much , once on the field it’s in the hands of the 17 that play.

Much is said about the coach and his affect on how a team plays.

I’m no expert on this but I think that a coach is just the face of the football department that manages each team, much like the President of the USA is just the face of the large group under him that does everything.

I had the pleasure ( don’t vomit , and when I say pleasure I detached myself from my fandom at the time ) of being shown through the Melbourne Storm “ system “ , and boy is it a system.

Their training facilities , the staff they have , the meticulous nature of everything they do is just “ world class “.

Everyone says it’s Bellamy , that’s crap , he’s part of it but far from the major part of it.

They employ the very best in every single part of their system , the most experienced , the people who are top of their field , no one works there unless they are the absolute best in the business.

They excel in turning average players into either very good players or superstars , but it’s a total system that’s doing it NOT just Bellamy.

Of course he’s the one with the passion, and the drive you see on TV however he’s far from the only reason the Storm are continually successful.

I do think that there are some coaches who are just Duds, Trent Barrett a good example , but I think too much is made of coaches as such being “ great “ or “ Duds”. By all means crucify the football department as a whole but it’s definitely not just one persons fault that games are lost ( or conversely not just because of one person that games are won).

Seibold has got this Manly team into the finals in his second year at Manly
Whatever happens this year happens
It’s more what happens next year for Seibold he needs to make sure this Manly team plays finals preferably a top 4 spot
Till then it’s bit harsh to judge Seibold after 2 seasons and Manly are not finished just yet

Well said

Playing finals is clearly a pass mark for the Coach, and team in general in 2024.

I think we all want more than that going forward in 2025, where a finals campaign is the expectation, top 4 is a pass mark, etc.

On the coaching staff, Manly have a mind-set coach & a defence coach.
These two areas of Manly's game need much improving if to make a dent in the finals.

Agree to disagree, end of the day I’m sure all we both really want is to see the premiership come back to the beaches. All the best and up the sea eagles.

Do you think Ciraldo forgot to implement his defensive system last year when they leaked 769 points?

Ah yes thank you - Dogs signed 10 new players this year, that is the difference (in effect plus Kikau who missed heaps of last year)
Manly's roster still needs bolstering in the forwards, I think Seibold is aware of this, but getting the right recruits on board isn't as easy as picking off the shelf.

Thanks for your point of view feathered friend
Bellamy is more than just a face . He is the Inspiration , the Innovation , the Drive the Passion and the Mission .
He is the conductor that orchestrates the winning symphony at the grounds
He is the main reason that his team has been successful
Put another face in his place and you have different results
He is such an asset at the storm that they have been doing everything they can to keep the Great man there and keep their Great Winning Legacy
We will agree to disagree and I hope you have a good night somewhere in our Great Australian country side

It takes time to gel 10 new players into your roster and credit to the Dogs coach for moulding them into a momentous finals out fit
That is the difference that makes a good coach .
The Dogs also are lacking a Experienced half back and they have the smallest forward pack
But their coach has got them hunting like a pack of bulldogs on heat
They have won 10 games in a row and not may teams can vouch for that
The Dogs have certainly over achieved this season

Seibold has got this Manly team into the finals in his second year at Manly
We have a finals roster
and So Top 8 is expectations
Top 4 is exceeding expectations
a Grand final win is Legendary Manly status
The Season is not over as yet
And Seibold has the opportunity to become a Manly Legend
All Manly fans would love a Manly Premiership win
All Manly fans should be right behind Seibold
Because at Manly Losing sucks and we are not good losers
