Regardless of the result tonight , our team , led by Seibold , has done better than expected this year.

In fact I’d say , MUCH better than expected.

We are currently in the top 6

Win tonight we are top 4

Regardless of what the negative nancies say on here that’s a great result from 13th last year.

Absolutely no reason we can’t be top 4 in the regular season in 25.

Seibold continues to pick Garrick at centre for the whole of 2024.
However he seemingly cannot coach Garrick how to defend at centre, especially how to slide in defence.

Garrick's defence is worse now than at the start of the year. Is there a worst defender at centre in the NRL

Yet, we have Talau, who is a centre with excellence defence, playing on the wing.

EVERY team is now attacking the Garrick side.

Thanks Seibold, you coaching myth.

Seibs does appear to be sleeping on this conundrum...

I think this is one of the critical challenges for Seibs going into 2025. I don’t think he is necessarily a myth or bad coach. I think he is at the crossroads or precipce to potentially becoming a great coach. But NOW is his time. To me, the off season going into next year is critical to Seib’s future as a coach and his potential legacy.

And if I see Croker at #9 and Garrick at #4, I will probably give up on him.

I do agree that the Garrick experiment has to end... it is a similar situation to Lomax - in the end their highest value to the team is in a winger role and if that means they spit the dummy and leave well so be it...

I just want to add to this post… the stars have lined up for him. He has done a reasonable job this season and he has been given an extension. He was somewhat unlucky with his treatment at the donkeys, but there are no more excuses here. He has been given the time and trust. It’s time to rise above the challenge and create a destiny, if he’s up to it.

The hooker role is another Seibold needs to fix in the off season.
Simpkins seems to have a lot more upside to his game than Croker.
For some reason, Simpkins never got a look in after Croker came back.

Absolutely agree. I just amended that original post to mention if we turn up at the beginning of 2025 with Croker at #9 and Garrick at #4, that will just about sink any belief left in Seibs. I expect an honest review of the season and a courageous and sensible response.

Outside of Guacamole and Ben T, our forwards are not mobile enough. Signing Lodge for 2025 will not fix this issue.

We look like the cowboys all attack no defence. You will never match it with the top teams like that.
Apart from ola who had a real dig and looked pissed off this finals series
I know backrow but he was the only forward who had a real dig.

Yep, I put the Cowboys, Warriors, and Manly all in the same category - high-risk game plans and they can beat anyone on their day when it comes off.

But it won't be good enough to win 3 or 4 finals games in a row against the best.

I think Seibold has done a lot of good things this year, but ultimately doubling down on "our weapons" strategy will not bring a premiership.

Yeah Haumole carried our pack had a great finals series. But the team as a whole arent coached well we should be pinning the opposition in their own 30/40 stuff like linespeed and kick chase its the effort areas that manly need to improve in.

The way I saw it from my cheap seat on the Brookie hill...
An enjoyable season to be a supporter, and exceeded my expectations with the players Manly have.
Seibs strengthened the team from the previous year.
He did a good job moving the team up the ladder from last season.
I don't remember Seibs making a promise to win the comp in '24 with the players he had available.
I do remember him saying the team's goal was to play in the semi's.
The players produced some entertaining & exciting footy throughout the season.
Seibs spoke well with the press and at post games, he also didn't hide anything from the supporters if asked questions.
The players seemed to get along as a group & support one another.
No media dramas to ruin the brand (& Las Vegas was good for the brand)
If anything, the defence coach & mindset coach need a tap on the shoulder from Seibs.
Hopefully strengthen a few positions & go even better next season!
So...
Go Manly 2025!
