I really chuckle when some come on here telling us about their "highs standards"..
I can understand why you chuckle and this is because you do not understand where some passionate Manly people on here get their Manly premiership Winning clubs High standards

They get their Inspiration and their High Quality Many Standards from our Legendary clubs Benchmark Premiership Winning Standards that made our Club the Greatest Club of ALL

This is our Legendary clubs High Benchmark Standards and any another standards from any other source are way of the Mark

Our Benchmark Premierships Winning Standards is not a Fantasy
Its is a Reality.... 1972 . 1973 , 1978 , 1987 , 1996, 2008 , 2011
Made from Real High Premiership Winning Standards

Why are Benchmarks High standards so Important ???
Benchmarks of high standards are important as they evaluate performance and track improvements providing a clear indication of clubs standing in comparison to established standards or desired objectives and the desired objective are to be the Great premiership Winning Manly club once again

You seem to live in your own substandards and not our Legendary clubs Great Benchmark high standards if you do not acknowledge the Yardstick and the Benchmark of our clubs High standards where excellence is always is expected for us to keep living up to our Legendary clubs Greatness

The Moral of the story and the Fact is
Lower our Legendary Clubs Great Premiership Winning High Standards and we stand for Nothing Great

Of course our benchmark premierships are not fantasy, but I think you’ll find they weren’t referred to as fantasy…it was actually your perspective that I labelled ‘fantasy’.

It’s all good though…you can approach your support of the club anyway you see fit. I just think it’s a shame when we have a great win and everyone else is doing cartwheels, while you praise Ciraldo for his game plan (that wasn’t good enough to get the win, I might add) and pine for days gone by.

We’ve won 8 premierships in 80+ years. That equates to decades of failing to attain your ‘benchmarks’. That suggests you might need to adjust your benchmarks ☺️

I've watched the replay, and am somewhat convinced that we held ourselves back from many outrageous shifts until the last 10 minutes.

Almost like we just stayed in touch with the Dogs, and pulled the trigger when it mattered. And we finished well on top in the last 10.

If that was Seibolds plan, then well coached.
And kudos to the fitness guys.
Yes it was nearly like rope a dope with Forman and Ali ,we just hung in there ,just in touch ,one out one back in harness racing terms ( to mix the sporting metaphors ) , took the hits, our back 5 got bashed a bit and then just before the end of the round we go thru the middle with Tom going faster than he had all day which I think caught the dogs off guard and then the offloads .
Credit to Burbo as well realising he needed to get that ball to Koula with all that space and his pace.
I noticed also that he didn't really sprint to keep up with the play maybe he could see the path for Koula was wide open and it was just a matter of holding onto the ball .
As someone else said it would be great to get a front on shot of that try or a behind shot
Anyways a great win and try , now for those rorters.
I'm really looking forward to Lodge and Paseka literally putting Maria Hargraves into retirement !!
Rorters still have a top class team and we will have to be laser focussed to win .
I'm worried and really hope that we don't fall into a trap of thinking that we can come from behind again like we did with the dogs and win. We have to win this one with our defence .
Also like someone said I hope Siebold works on how we can conjure Koula into space as watching him run like that was magic

Go Manly

NRL 2024: Manly Sea Eagles set to re-sign coach Anthony Seibold on new contract

Anthony Seibold took over a fractured club when he replaced Des Hasler at the Sea Eagles in 2023. But after taking Manly back to finals footy, the coach is set to be rewarded with a new deal.

Manly’s post-season rise will deliver coach Anthony Seibold a contract extension which could keep him at the club until at least the end of 2027.
It is understood that the top brass of the Sea Eagles have agreed that Seibold will be offered a new deal once his coaching commitments end this season.

It puts to bed any suggestions that Seibold could be on the move despite having 12 months left on his current deal.

While talks are on hold until Manly’s season comes to a close, the Sea Eagles will offer Seibold a one or two year extension.

It comes after their dramatic come from behind victory against the Bulldogs last Sunday handed Manly their first finals victory since 2021.

Seibold took over a fractured club from Des Hasler last season and finished 12th. However, this year they finished the regular season in seventh spot and face the prospect of making an preliminary final should they overcome the Roosters on Saturday night.

Results were always going to dictate Seibold’s future at the club with Sea Eagles officials having seen enough to agree that he deserves a new deal.

The former South Sydney and Broncos coach was in talks about a potential extension earlier this year but it was agreed that talks would be put off until the end of the season in May when Manly slumped to 12th on the competition ladder.

Manly owner and chairman Scott Penn said Seibold maintained strong support.

The reality is we said look, there is so much going on, let’s park it until the end of the season and pick it up then,” Penn said. “We definitely intend to enter dialogue straight after the season.

“We were pretty close (to the top four) and we had a lot of tight losses this year as well. Importantly it was about instilling a new mentality and really bringing a new Manly mentality to the table. Seibs has done a great job doing that.”

Captain Daly Cherry-Evans added: “He has done a fantastic job. I think over the last two years has shown we’re getting better each year. This year was fantastic improvement to make the (top) eight.

“We’ve pushed forward into week two (of the finals) so it’s not just great for the club, it’s show Seibs has done a fantastic job.”

BRONCOS SACKING STEELS SEIBOLD

Manly skipper Daly Cherry-Evans says Anthony Seibold’s turbulent stint at the Broncos has underpinned his revival at Brookvale.

There was a view Seibold’s coaching days in the NRL were over after his horror stint at the Broncos, delivering the club’s first and only wooden spoon in 2020.

Seibold arrived on a monster five-year deal in 2019 but lasted just 18 months and walked away with a $1.5 million payout, heading to English rugby to work under Eddie Jones.

The NRL seemed a world away in Europe but Seibold secured a lifeline at Manly and he has responded by steering the Sea Eagles to the finals.

Ahead of Saturday night’s sudden-death semi-final against the Roosters, Cherry-Evans lauded Seibold’s ability to fight back and learn from his Broncos nightmare.

Daly Cherry-Evans praises Anthony Seibold’s resilience.

Daly Cherry-Evans praises Anthony Seibold’s resilience.
“I’m really proud that we’ve got back to the finals,” Cherry-Evans said.

“No doubt ‘Seibs’ would have learned from his previous coaching experiences. He’s had good and bad when it comes to the experiences at other clubs, but he’s obviously learned from those and come to our club.

“He’s really put his mark on our side and how he wanted us to play. He wanted our style to play to the strengths of the people within the squad, so he’s done his job this year.

“Seibs listens to the senior players and our feedback and he has done a great job to help Manly get back into the finals.”

Happy with short contracts for coaches say 2 years, however historically there have been a number pf coaches offered longer contracts after some success and few have replicated that success during the long contract. Not to dissimilar to what happens with some players. Keep them lean and keep then keen.

If Seibold can mastermind a great win over the Chook$ on Saturday ... the Broncos might chase him with a multi-million-dollar 5 year deal. They've done it before!
Can you Imagine us Winning the Grand Final
Seibold will be an overnight Supercoach
It can happen
Everything is possible

Yep, keep that short term thinking. Forget about the medium and long term, only the short-term matters..................

You have made some good points feathered friend
I like the "Keep them lean and Keep them Keen" incentive motivation
But with all the Great ones if you do not secure them on long term deals you will lose them
But this only applies to all the Great ones
Great ones like Bellamy and Bennett
Speaking of Bennett
I was listening to one of Tony Bennett classics this morning.......

Seriously though the club and the players seem happy with him, so can't ask for much more than that.

There will always be haters in here saying he should be doing this or that, or the club should be doing certain things differently.

End of the day, the people in positions of power are happy with this direction. That's what matters ultimately.

Sadly the truth can hurt at times my friend.

While most of us were on our feet applauding our warriors and cheering on our speedster Koula, you could only wax lyrical about Ciraldo.
