I've not seen anywhere that North Sydney has been an actual party in this latest discussions. The consortium last year with the bears was sh*t canned and now it's only been discussed between the nrl and the WA government. North's fans premature ejaculations again at this point.

I the below article Billy Moore as a Bears board member talks about the 6 months of negotiations.

That to me indicates involvement.

Manly should have manouvered to have had all juniors from the harbour bridge to the central coast. Sure, it would have been difficult to achieve given the animosity from the Bears but we should have lobbied the NRL. Wasted opportunity.

I still believe the NRL has missed the chance to create a new team , something the WA fans can call “ our team “ , the WA Miners ( or anything really ).

The North Sydney wankers won’t even bother with the Perth bit, for them it’s the Bears , from North Sydney , same colours , same song , just playing home games bar a few in WA.

This is AFL central , the NRL will need every single supporter they can pick up and this is an excellent way to piss a lot off from the get go.

The thing that I dont understand is have they gauged there's enough support over there to make it even work, how many North Sydney Bears fans are going to make a 5 hour flight to Perth for a home game, i dont know what's worse the PNG team or the Bears

I only started watching footy when we were merged with them as the Northern Eagles, so I've never actually seen Norths in first grade during my lifetime. I've only really had a true hatred for Parramatta, but it feels like the Bears should now be that team?

Are there any adults around who remember the Bears and can educate me like a son on why I should hate the sunnavabitchs?

I only started watching footy when we were merged with them as the Northern Eagles, so I've never actually seen Norths in first grade during my lifetime. I've only really had a true hatred for Parramatta, but it feels like the Bears should now be that team?

I worked a couple of jobs with some banks in Mosman, Neutral Bay and I swear to god the Bears fans stuck out because they did not look like the locals. If the topic came up and they'd inevitably ask who I followed I'd just say I didn't really follow the footy... well, after telling the first bloke who asked I followed Manly.

Same thing if I'm having a drink at The Oaks. It's reminiscent of an ex someone just can't get over, like damn let it go man.

Have to admit I never really hated the bears like I do some other clubs (roosters, souths, eels). Norths to me were more like lovable cuddly losers. Apart from a brief period in the early 90s they were never really a competitive threat, so what’s to hate? Also, we got Cliffy from them, so there’s that. I actually kinda liked the 1970/1980s version of the bears - players like don mckinnon, Steve mayoh, rod henniker, mark graham.

I’m sure there are some old threads you can look up on the forum. I recall some having really poor experiences with their fan group either at Brookie or NS Oval.

I didn’t hate them like other supporters do, but I’ve only followed Manly since 1990. Although they beat us in a final in 1991 which really upset me at the time. Recall Billy Moore scoring and maybe David Hall. I think we were pretty rubbish that day. Following week we got knocked out by Canberra in one of the clubs gutsiest finals performances.

Part of the problem that day was ex-Bear prop Martin Bella (by then at Manly) bagging Norths credentials prior to the game. Giving the latter something to prove. Well done Marty, you ****wit. I don’t think he was too popular with his Manly teammates afterwards.

Billy Moore was about to join Manly earlier in his career, before changing his mind and joining the Bears instead. He seems to have had a chip on his shoulder (about Manly) ever since.

I think the Nrl should think strategic and long term and any team that plays out of perth needs to play 1 game in Adelaide per year as market research and spreading the game

Bridging the gap in terms of NRL and national

I think they should probably go like vegas and have manly as the away team and touch in the manly v bears history

I would bring about 8 mates. 4 of them would drink enough beer to make it “stack up” in terms of $$$$$
