I'm happy for anyone to play Origin if they're eligible for their respective states.
The only thing I would change is you can only play for one country. It's a joke playing for a different country after representing another, you are what you are, you can't be both.
Paying homage to your lineage is all well and good, but if it means that much chose that country first!

The only advantage Australia has in the Interntional game today ... is SOO ... the blooding and tempering in the SOO arena is what hardens the lads ... and gives them the competitive edge ...

any numbnut that wants to include foreign players into this is ... not to put too fine a point on it .... is crayon eating, window licking, lip drooling bonkers.

When there are 16 pacifica players running out on the Suncorp with 2 Aussie's on the bench ... you will realise just how short-sighted and bat **** crazy you were ...

It is not Australia's responsibility to provide competitions for foreign nations .... new Zealand can organise their own pacific games.

Samoa, Tonga and Fiji are now strong enough to be Tier 1 countries.
It's good that such small Pacific nations have a sport at which they excel.
RL/RU suits their build: strong, tough, determined.
You almost never find them excelling in AFL, cricket, swimming, surfing but they are also good in the martial arts.

Agree here, seems pretty simple to me.

If you were born in NSW or QLD or played junior footy in NSW or QLD before 15 or whatever the eligibility rule is then you can play SOO in my opinion and then who cares what country you represent.

So in my view Mulitalo could play for QLD and NZ, Radley could play for NSW and England.

But say, Dom Young couldnt play SOO for example.

SOO doesnt need to be linked to international footy.

But the players do need a tangible link to their state.

The biggest bread and circuses sideshow in town survived a PNG player turning out for QLD about thirty years ago.

Not to mention NSW players who transformed overnight into Queenslanders.

It will survive the hell and damnation of state players turning out for Pacifica nations.

Oh the humanity…

Woodsie good to see your posts again after all these years. I used to be with you on this but something Corey Parker said has changed my mind. There were 13 "Pasifika" players that played in last years origin that have already played for a tier 2 nation, so it's already happening. If we open it up to everyone, who from NZ and England would actually make either origin side anyway? Hughes? Fisher Harris? You'd maybe add those 2 and Fonua Blake (thats if they even qualify for origin). As long as they meet the criteria for NSW and QLD like Luai and Crichton do, im actually ok with it. And you'd hope the selection panel would lean towards the Aussies first.

An idea I put forward was to do what they do in the big bash and maybe put a cap of 4 or 5 international players per team. The game has changed and I think this rule will eventually have to change. Think of the amount of mixed breed kids we have now, there's not many true blue Aussies left anymore.

We need a strong international game. If the likes of Haas and Tino etc don't want to play for Australia, then let them go. I'd love to see an Australian team full of 3rd generation Aussies and indigenous Aussies.

Great to see you back posting too ... your rational and considered opinions have been sorely missed
