Technical Coach

I'm no good with stats on the NRL site. Any one able to tell me how many hit ups Siro and Frankinstein had in the win up north?

C'mon @Technical Coach we need to see where we are sitting in season 2017.
If your not busy applying to Wests Tigers for a job can you break down our new team?

Cheers.
Adding power and the right kind of size tick, added intensity and aggression tick, added footwork tick, adding speed tick, more ball playing options tick, improvement in some running lines and straightness tick, structures slowly improving tick, early tackles after kick returns go forward momentum improvement tick --- so we are on the right track.

Still plenty of dead wood to cut to improve this team and "potentially" some cap room but not as much as people think---it is not as simple as adding Matai and Brett's pay packets and think we have a million plus to spend.

Easy for Manly to still be off the pace with a few injuries in the forwards but the foundations are looking good.

There will still be some inconsistent sack the coach performances from the average fan perspective but try and look at the bigger picture.

Those occasional team lapses will be a part of this teams progression. Becoming less frequent in time. Hopefully. And the calls will be loud. But many on here cant see the forest for the trees are in the way

The loss to Souths hurt. Our line defence was woeful; sliding and then moving backwards in defence was hard to watch in that game.

I was too busy being numb with delight to pay attention to the defensive structures we have recently put in place that seem to be working. Any bright sparks out there, including TC, wish to enlighten me on what defensive adjustments we have made?

Nice to have you back TC! Sorry @Technical Coach

Interesting what you say re going into the market with 1.4 Million from Skiv/Snake, I imagine some of that might be upgrades to the twin Turbo's, and whilst we get Curtis / Aku almost for free this year , next year it's full tote odds.

We possibly have the back injuries covered with Hastings / Parker, but I'm thinking we might be a top line big bopper short, agree or disagree?

Agree, we need to get Aaron Woods, then we will be in good shape for forwards.

I'm more a fan of increasing the overall power/strength/size/speed of the team than having too many forwards that are all about the big minutes, with numbers that look good on paper but really lack quality impact that can fatigue and hurt the defensive line.

Yes it is a fine line, you can go too far the other way and have a pack of YouTube, highlight reel, lacking consistent substance types who can go soft really quickly when the game flow is against them.

The Doggies have the wrong type of size, lethargic flat wicket types along with too many over-rated clubman who lack spark. Combine that with halves who don't have structured ballplaying ability and you create a predictable stuttering mess that only looks good during fresh moments or on the few occasions the forwards get a role.

I'm not a big fan of Aaron Woods, more an over-rated media favourite but i do admit he can have his good moments----i don't watch as many games as the past so more going off past impressions from the limited times i have watched a Tigers game.

Teams that have improved the overall size, speed, strength, power of their squads that can keep coming at you tend to improve more than retaining a club full of clubman and previous gen size types.

Roosters,Souths,Nth Qld have shown what structured power can do to a squad, winning premierships and you can see a few other teams have improved in this area also in recent times for good results.

Manly is on the right path, i would like two more forwards for depth as we have already seen with injuries and suspension against Souths that when the tide is against us we can crumble. In saying that a little experienced leadership that day after the good start should of resulted in a win, so not entirely down to a lack of size on the day but it didn't help.

So a couple of hard workers rather than outright superstars??

That might help retain anyone we want to in a cap sense as well, logical really.

Plenty on the the market in 2018, fingers crossed we get some gooduns!

Hard workers are more the clubman types, more players that have impact off the bench than just making the numbers.

If the interchange dropped to 6 that would change the size make up of the squad, at 8 interchanges(i don't favour a drop by the way) there is enough interchanges and "forced or fake injury stoppages" to get away with high impact not long minutes types on the bench.
