Team list Tuesday

Well the time for YARTS is almost over with less than 7 hours until we know Twenty's ideas on taking us forward.

BUT, do we actually get the run on 17 at 4pm, or as I've read elsewhere , 21 get named with the final 17 only announced an hour before the game.

If this is the case Team List Tuesday is now officially a big wank and one less thing to look forward to every week.

I understand that changes often gave to be made to the side named on a Tuesday, but seriously what's the point of naming 21 players.....even I could do that and be reasonably accurate.

I seriously hope that's not the case.

I'm fairly certain that today we will only get the 21 extended squad. So...err....'officially' wank away. *shudders*

What's the point you ask - probably nothing in reality but I think the nrl went on a bit about how this somehow stops insider tips for the gamblers (though the afl used to get berated for doing the same thing...but they would name players they knew weren't going to play and all the bookies couldn't get their odds correct. Get stuffed was I think the afl's response. Not so with the nrl.)

Possible side

Tom T
Uate
Walker
Kelly
Taufua
Green
DCE
Myles
Api
Perrett
Taupau
Sironen
Jake T

Hastings
AFB
BJ
Lane (or Winterstein or Brown)

Backline looks potentially explosive. Forwards look a little lean in props. Hope Lussick gets back soon.

Four things I'm seeking - FOUR:

1. Matthew Wright isn't in the team (he's great depth, but not 1st grade)
2. Myles comes off the bench
3. Brown is NOWHERE near the starting 13
4. Out of Hastings, Cullen, Brown and Koroisou, I hope Barrett picks on form, not who he knows like last year. I'd actually be happy with 09. Hastings 14. Cullen tbh.

Koroisou needs to improve his passing left to right 100%. Unless I see that, he's not 1st grade material.

I agree with you mate , and ur right about api's passing game but id have him in the 17 coming off the bench for 15 minute bursts . I think he could be dangerous with tiring defense. Hastings at 9 for sure.

Why can't the Big League magazine be printed for sale on Thursday so we can at least announce teams on Wednesday. I don't know why we have to announce them on Tuesday. It's so early in the week and most clubs wouldn't know the extent of Sat/Sunday injuries.

It was so dumb the last few years reading the team lists and the teams who played Monday would just announce the same sides even if players got carried off on stretchers!

The NRL first said the early announcements were for the official program which had to be printed early in the week. Now they want to stop the stench of match fixing by naming extended squads so no star player could be brought back unexpectedly like the previous years. If the player is fighting to get fit for that game, he needs to be named in the extended squad to get a game. Stops betting stings because someone had inside info on the star making a shock return.

I suppose they had to do something to stop that happening but it still leaves fans with no idea who will actually play.

As someone posted earlier, will the 19 man squads be announced 24 hours before?

I'm over losing parcel having picked up Hastings and being impressed with Cullen and J Lussick. But if Korisau's passing game isn't 200% on last year then he needs to play off the bench and someone more crisp and less erratic should start. Would love to have him as a fifteen minute explosive detonating against tired big parramatta forwards at the 25 minute mark. If Hastings starts this means back line injuries are covered also.

MWSE confirmed to me this morning, on Facebook, that the top 17 are named, and will hopefully run on, but they announce 21, and reduce to 19 then finalise the 17 to allow for injuries.

I'm guessing with a few days to go, bar an injury at training the 17 announced should be it, at least for game 1.

I think you might be disappointed , I doubt all four things will come about.

They'll choose Wright, Myles will start, Api will be Hooker and Brown will be utility.

In fact that's NONE of your points happening ........sorry!!

At best they " might" run Myles from the bench, but I'd suggest they'll give him a game to prove he's " reformed ".

But can't but disagree with you on any of the points!!

Well said, could not have said it better myself... We won't win a comp with Api at 9 so why have him there.. the 9 needs to be the most consistant player in the team as he touches the ball 99% of the time.. hard to get excited re Api. He would be the perfect spark to bring on 65 mins in if we are behind but dont bloody start him!

This is great!

Let me summarise: each club names basically their top 25 players every Tuesday, then over the course of the week at prescribed intervals freely chops and changes the team lineup. Final lineups named just before kickoff.

Awesome work Todd!!!
LOL.....it's a joke of a system. At least it spreads the love around the squad, all those fringe players can at least read their name in the papers/internet each week and feel like they are first grade regulars.
