All Blacks halfback TJ Perenara is reportedly considering a dramatic switch to the NRL at the completion of the Japanese Top League season.

The shock revelation comes just days after All Blacks great Sir John Kirwan called on NZR to not re-sign Perenara, a veteran of 69 tests, for 2022 and beyond.

It has been reported the Roosters reached out to Perenara's agent Warren Alcock.
"We are talking to NZR and other parties that have approached us," Alcock told TVNZ.

It has been reported the Roosters would use Perenara as a hooker given their current crises in that area with Jake Friend retiring due to a nasty run of concussions and Sam Verrills currently on the sidelines with a knee injury.

Under a new rule in 2021, if Perenara was to sign with the Roosters before August 2, he would be eligible to play the remainder of the season.

- I thought the rorters already had one Perenara working for them?

Why stop at one?

My mother is available to play for Manly. She's 77 and makes a great cup of tea. She'd also send the filthy opposition and the refs to their bedrooms without any TV.
There's no way she'd play for the roosters. She's way too classy.

The moral of the story

It is not the size of the cap that counts

It is the size of the smart brain of the man that is wearing the cap

Well done to the shrewd roosters

Ridiculous.

This rule where a player can be contracted for part of a season has so far only been championed & used by the Roosters (SBW for 4 games last year at the bargain basement price of $150k).

Not only does it make a joke of the salary cap & the previously insisted upon "market value" concept for a player, it also makes a joke out of the deadlines implemented by the NRL for every club to to announce their top 30.

Taking the SBW example - if NRL contracts are usually based on 12 month years, then extrapolating on SBW being paid $150k for 4 games (essentially 1 month) means if you scale it up to 12 months, his contract was worth $1.8m per annum.

Now, if the Roosters were allowed to "scale down" SBW's 4 game contract & pro-rate it, surely the space left in their cap at the time should also have been pro-rated?

I'd be very interested to know the finer details of the agreement, seeing as the Roosters also flew him & his family back to Australia & put them into (luxurious) hotel quarantine for 2 weeks as well as providing them a car.

What was laughable was the Roosters originally submitted a contract value of $130k but the NRL apparently thought it was too low, so they agreed on $150k - $20k more LOOOOL!!!

The moral of the story In regards to the cap and all the rules that are put in place

We have the sheep that follow the rules

And the Shrewd that break the rules

Because Rules are there to be broken by the wise Innovators

Ba Ba Black sheep have you any clue ?

Yeah but you're coming from the belief that anything goes as long as you dont get caught - in fact, you think not getting caught cheating is somehow noble & innovative.

Perspective time ...

Innovation to the rules has been proved by the Roostes

Cheating has not been proved by the Whingers
