Streaming advice

I have had KAYO for a few years. We used to use a ROKU box but they were phased out. Got a couple of free fetch boxes but they dont support KAYO
Have a computer hooked up to the main TV so i have downloaded the app
We have a number of streaming platforms but the Kayo app is by far the least reliable even with good internet . it gets grainy when it pans out . Switch to netflix or similar…. Issue disappears
Happy to get another box, maybe a navidia or similar but curious to see what others use and the results

Got lots of tech advise in the house but they lack interest in this area

My tv has the kayo app available but runs poorly. I bought an amazon firestick and run kayo on that and works much better. My tv is a fairly new LG and seems some apps run okay like netflix but others like optus sport or paramount have a heap of buffering issues which is eliminated using the firestick

Kayo app (or Chromecast from phone) on older tv. 6yrs old-
Ethernet cable to NBN router so no signal issues.
It can be poorer quality than Disney / Netflix etc lag loading. Picture quality.

I get the baseball MLB app and it's great.
People don't believe my tv isn't brand new when they see it

I blame the parents!!!
I do feel a lost opportunity but we gel otherways

Two of his earliest memories of footy include
Falling off the last step of the supporter bus at the titans and spending half the match with the medicals, maybe 4 yo
Going to brookie against the storm in the hey day and he was really intimidated by the hate of the crowd.

Lets be honest anywhere else but footy

He did have matt orford captivated very early on singing the songs and having a slur suitable for his age for all other teams on the goldy, different trip to the headbanger

Cowboys = soft
Storm = boo

I did try

If that doesn’t work let me know , I have an as new Amazon Firestick , bought for my caravans NON smart TV.

Pugged it in , worked like a charm.

Next short trip the TV lost its guts ( no it didn’t fart just fell apart ).

So I had to buy a new smart TV, meaning the “ used once “ Firestick is now redundant!!

Aaah life and stuff

Sweet info. I bet not just me will get some ideas from this

Often the streaming capabilities on the newer T.V's and some older than 5 year old tvs leave allot to be desired.

I have three fire sticks hooked up to all televisions and get no stutter on you tube or any apps. I have the fastest 1 Gig p/s internet and still want to achieve 4k where possible for the NRL so I have foxtel IQ and don't have allot of trust with Kayo given some recent experiences.

With two kids and the wife all playing YouTube/Netflix/PS5 I still have Foxtel connected for $60 a month to guarantee I can watch/record the Footy. Its cheaper than one ticket to the NRL!

One of the best things I did was upgrade my Wifi box to the Eero system and the Wi-Fi now is about 10 times faster (so get rid of the standard box Telstra or other providers give you).

I've had a long experience getting this right. Before google tv was a thing i used to use an android box.

Firestick and Google tv (chromecast) are just android tv sticks. They work really well with kayo but definitely tune the kayo settings.

Failing that I connect my Samsung phone to the tv with a usbc to hdmi cable and I get to use the app on my phone.

However I have several google TV's around the house and also have 2 4k firesticks. The firesticks work flawlessly and are my go to.

Also you can use your roku too you just need to sideload the app.

Download it from apptoid or another site and you can sideload it outside the app store.

Again. i really appreciate everyones input and solutions . I will solve it this weekend i reckon after the win. It’s not dire but needs a remedy.

The microwave screws with the internet due to entry point in the kitchen , so i might unplug it today just in case some ironstein wants there apple pie warm . But our internet is pretty good . Working from home family for 20 years so we mastered that

Ive been looking to upgrade the TV, just havn't had the need really but ( wifey ) I found that need / want. I will just give her the perspective talk if she doesnt get onboard. I joke knowing i have the best wife ever

All in all i have a much better idea of what my options are. I have a techy family but this stuff isnt really there areas, where as seeing manly is what this site is all about

The refs work you up enough, no one needs pixelation

I choose kayo because i just hate putting money in ruperts pocket and while i have to , giving him the bare minimum is my goal. And have taken advantage of some great deals . This year will be the most expensive year. Got a deal for 4 months at 15 and the rest 25.
2 years ago had the whole season at 5 a month

Game day baby

When comparing Kayo with Netflix etc you need to compare apples with apples, ie a tv show will usually stream better on any app compared to a live stream. That said, I use few different streaming apps to live stream sport and Kayo is probably the second worst (ahead of DAZN). I general find it ok (wifi to Google TV). DAZN is easily the worst and a bit concerning they have just bought out Foxtel, so we'll see what that means for Foxtel / Kayo.

I have a complete absence of technology ... I simply hotspot my laptop to my Optus phone and stream Kayo ... no problems other than the very occasional buffering ... normally a great picture ... no worries with Netflix etc ..
