The 'Prince of Brookvale’, Brett Stewart, is confident he will return from injury against Cronulla Sutherland Sharks this Monday night.

Having missed the opening two rounds after suffering a hamstring strain in the trial against Ipswich Jets, Stewart says he will undergo further fitness tests before making a final decision on his return.

“I’ve got a fitness test on Friday and over the weekend. I won’t be pushing it. If it is not ready, it isn’t ready,’’ Stewart declared this morning.

“It is a long season and it is only round three. Fingers crossed, I should be out there on Monday night at Brookie.”

Watch the interview with Stewart above as he talks about the injury and his thoughts on the opening two matches.

I hope he takes his own advice and sits out if it's not ready and he isn't pressured to play. It's a difficult 4-5 rounds coming with a couple of short turn arounds but plenty of time to rest in the period after that.

11 day turn around between rounds 7-8, and byes between rounds 9-10 and 11-12.

Yep 3 games in 11 days between rounds 3 - 5 is ridiculous! Don't think he would handle 2 x 5 day turn arounds.
