Sterlo moves back to Nine

Fox have ended the Sterlo Show.

What I found interesting is this :

From next year, Nine’s NRL rights expand to include full live streaming and catch up on Nine’s matches and digital rights across all NRL matches. Peter is a key part of our strategy going forward to create the best rugby league content, distribute it widely across all platforms, for audiences to consume anywhere and anytime," Nine’s Director of Sport Tom Malone said


Does this mean that all 8 games will be available on FTA
Or does 9 just allow viewing of their 3 games via 9now on demand streaming

I assume they will stream all games and at exorbitant fee of course- I guess that means streaming will no longer be part of NRL app

I don't mind Sterlo. His show took a hit with the addition of (p)Ennis and Parker. I enjoyed most of his one on ones.

Hey he could play too. Use to be an Eagles fan until he signed with the Eels.

I hate ch9, I still hold a massive grudge against them from the old days when you'd get one (delayed) friday night game and one (delayed) sunday game. Absolute pathetic treatment of fans and still are miles behind Fox. If it wasn't for Fox rugby league would be dead and buried (obviously still heading that way, but that's a different story ie. The NRL). The only time i watch ch9 is origin and GF cause Fox don't have them live.

Good news, hopefully see less of Parker on TV now

We get the coverage from both channels over here, can pick and choose which commentary to listen to for some games, and if the option is there I'm always straight over to the 9 commentary, can't stand some of the fox crew

I wont miss it, Sterlo is a Parra muppet and his one on one interviews were woeful glad he wont be at fox as I never watch 9 except origin and have the sound turned down.

Exactly, Nine is the reason that the GF is now played at night

Some of his interviews were pretty good. He gets some credit for refusing to participate in the embarrassing Footy Show buffoonery.

Hope not. Even though its rare i have to use it, knowing i have the any games i want to check in on when out for free on the pass for being with telstra is handy.

Wonder if it means the digital rights to the games nine produces (given fox sports produce the others), maybe the FTA games can be streamed via any 9 apps / websites live, which i'm guessing they cannot currently do.

I thought Sterlo's interviews with people from his own era (John Peard, John Farragher, Terry Lamb etc) were exceptional, but how in the name of God you could except a show to be successful with Ennis, Parker, Blocker, Hooper etc is beyond me. Surely someone was setting him up for a fall or alternatively just taking the p@ss !

I think sports fans will be worse off in the future. I watch and follow a few sports, between FTA and Fox all is covered. But in the future I will either need to stop watching some sports, or end up paying multiple providers.

It doesn't effect me, but ask any EPL fan how much Optus have screwed things.
