Has anyone stopped to consider just how hard it must be to keep such detailed stats?
How many people are involved? How do they judge distances run, post-contact metres etc?
If anything is an inexact science it must be stat collation. It's just interpretation.
One of my favourite saying about stats is:
"People use stats like a dunk man uses a lamp post -- for support rather than for illumination.

Often wondered that myself, I once had to keep tackle count at my son's under 11 game, as I didn't know many of the players it wasn't easy, I was glad when it finished and never did it again
