They are re-laying 2000m of turf this week. As someone who has had a bit to do with the turf industry it is impossible that this turf will be stable by Saturday. There is no way, it will come up in clumps and be very slippery and dangerous. They are being cavalier with the welfare of players simply so a few season ticket holders don't have to drive to Gosford.

The dodgy door in the dressing shed there will have nothing on the playing surface this week.

One could suggest that a legal liability issue could raise its head if a serious injury was to occur.

But our people already inspected the surface and apparently gave it the all clear.

I heard Spagbolo sent Kearney down to Bunnings after training yesterday to go to fetch 2x20L bags of soil, a bag of mulch, a couple of DIY reticulation kits and a screwdriver.

Jatz wasn't this inspection done before the new turf was laid?

Last thing we need is another serious injury to a key player. If the playing surface is'nt up to scratch the game should be moved. The preference of Eels supporters should'nt come into it

Dont know about Sydney itself, but we've had rain all night at Lithgow, and they're predicting more rain and showers up to and including Friday.Wont that make both the old turf, and any newly laid turf, even more dodgy?

from memory didnt they have relay turf the week before a game at Homebush a few years ago and it wasnt too bad, was thinking the same thing as mata beforehand but it went ok

Yeah it is a disgrace about the same level of our ground

Yeah, I get that impression from another article I read Mal. Which makes it all a bit strange if they are going to lay the turf after inspection. Dont know why we would accept things beforehand.

Just got this from Ticketek - so the NYC is played somewhere else.
The surface must still be unreliable :(

"..The gates opening time for the Parramatta Eels vs Manly Sea Eagles game at Parramatta Stadium on Saturday 31 March 2012 has changed.

The new gates opening time is 6:30pm. The kick off time has remained unchanged at 7:30pm."

NYC is being played at Ringrose.

Not sure what quality the turf will be seeing that most is grown on the banks of the hawksbury river which flooded a few weeks ago.

By 'our ground' , do you mean ANZ or Belmore?

It is impossible for the roots to grow into the sub-surface in the time available.

Better the new surface than one paved with coins

Rain is forecast for Friday. Sounds like a recipe for disaster.

Except we don't play till Saturday :)
might be ok then ...
