Spineless Raiders

I believe they are called "trials" in order to trial new players. To 'trial' players with 200-plus NRL experience is illogical.
If the idea is simply to get them fit then why weren't players given the full 80 minutes? Or play in both trials?
DESpicable (and other coaches) tried to hedge their bets, knowing how disastrous injuries to top 17 players would be in matches that were meaningless.
And like last year the moment we loose 4 games due to poor defence and fitness issues Des is screamed at for not using the trials to get the first team ready. Jeez can't win really.

I love the fact we took trials seriously this year. IMO they are an important part of getting a team ready to start the season.

Injuries happen

Our worst injury in Schuster happened in training.

Play on

yes and if you look back at posts from those 4 rounds last year - these Silvertailers would have been screaming and yes blaming Des for not having the team ready or picking the right team... remember everyone wanted Haumole etc etc in... but you can't have them in unless they play in real game simulation... and when Des puts them in real game situation like he did this year and we get a couple of minor and they are minor injuries... they scream again lol lol. I certainly was screaming about the poor play in those first 4 games... I also was screaming wondering if Des had the right side... and also that some players should be sacked (I was wrong on those calls... totally) but I certainly never agree with not playing trials or at least having the last trial as a full blown hit out for your main team... but I trusted that Des knew more than the minimal knowledge I have... Funny Des was proven correct except for the trial issue last year in my view. The team just wasn't battle hardened early on with or without Tom in those first 4 games. These are relatively minor injury issues at the moment - nobody is lost for the season. It is testing our depth but gee we still should be able to give a great showing until Schu/Haumole get back.
