Spencer Leniu

Mam has had his issues in the past and perhaps Thurston too.

The issue here though is how Leniu spoke to Ezra Mam in a game last year.

At the time, Thurston made the not unreasonable claim that Leniu should have copped a longer suspension of 12 weeks, to send a message to all players and their clubs.

Thurston, as a former great player of Indigenous heritage, is perfectly entitled to express that view. That view should be respected.

Leniu on the other hand seems far too obtuse to understand that he was in the wrong back then and he is wrong again now, with his intemperate response towards Thurston.

There must have been hundreds, even thousands of players over the years who didn’t like what was said about them by a journalist or commentator. As we know, Terry Randall respectfully gave it back (on camera) to Rex Mossop in 1982. Danny Weidler copped it more recently. I mean who wouldn’t like to tell Weidler to take a long walk off a short plank?😉 Leniu however has taken it to a whole new level. He was badly in the wrong last year, then he doubles down on it this year.

Robinson did his usual post-match dissembling - but I wouldn’t be surprised if the Roosters wash their hands of Leniu by season’s end - because this should become an even bigger story. One that doesn’t look good for an otherwise professionally run football club.
What a bunch of virtue signalling wish wash.

No fan of Leniu but he has every right to tell Thurston to fu*k off for being an absolute hypocrite. Thuston went silent on Mam's criminal actions that nearly cost a mother and child their lives.
Yep a man of colour calling another man of colour a racist name is much worse than driving while high on drugs and crashing a car causing injury to a child. Dear me, next they will try to tell me that murder is worse than being a Trump supporter.

leniue's issue is that Thurstan went hard on him for a few mean words ,yet Thurstan has been largely silent on the greater issue at hand which was Mams disgraceful drug driving without a license and injuring a child in an accident in that state and the comparably light sentence of 9 weeks that was handed out .Its the hypocrisy of Thurstan that Lenui is not going to cop .I say good on him.
Thanks, however I picked up on your arguments the first time around.*

*Full disclosure: I took Noticing in high school.

Such a lot of hate.
To the folks who think racial vilification is fine when its black on black, no harm at all in a little on-field banter, you could ask Andrew Symonds about that. Or come to think of it, you can't.

And as for those (like Rothfield) who say Thurston is a hypocrite for saying nothing about Mam's car crash... this argument is disgraceful imo. It was never a case of who is better or worse, Spencer or Mam.
I'd love to hear why anyone thinks you can't (or Thurston can't) give an opinion on a racist incident unless they are prepared to comment on everything else? Is it because Mam was the victim of Spencer's taunt? Why does that mean Thurston has to comment on anything/everything that Mam does? What possible relevance does it have to what Spencer said?

driving while high on drug

Lastly, spread whatever lies you like if it amuses you but fact is Mam was never accused of being high or intoxicated. He only had a trace of illegal drug in his system, which is an offence but not a serious one at least according to parliament.

Anyway, for those who enjoy hating, carry on.

Racism in any form is weak and cowardly. A quick stroll through the many learning institutions around the world should convince anyone of this fact. The post you're referring to was tongue in cheek, which would be obvious to most. No hatred here mate.

From Fox
Leniu reportedly accused Thurston of being a hypocrite for not criticising Mam as harshly after the 22-year-old pleaded guilty to drug driving following a head-on collision with a vehicle that contained a four-year-old girl.

I would like to point out that I believe what Mam did is much worse than what Spencer did in Vegas. They are both guilty as charged but Mam's actions could very easily have resulted in the death of two innocent people. JT and other ex players love to have opinions on certain players from clubs they don't like. They pick and choose who to be offended by. I'm with Spencer on this one.

I don’t think Thurston is in a position to be lecturing others about anything. Should stick to torturing channel 9 viewers with his “commentary”.
