Souths Penalty Try

The old saying "a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush" comes to mind.

you reminded me of one of my favourite pieces of graffiti;

"an orgasm in the bush is worth................"

oh, and by the way, I think it was a generous decision but agree with the logic from ads above re changing the slant of the wording and justifying it by the fact that illegal play removes your rights to a fair trial - or something!

I agree with chip & chase 100%.

A try was likely, but not certain. In my opinion the sin bin would have been a better option here.

A penalty try was far too generous in this case.

Yep, as above posters. Don't forget Dugan would've got a reasonable shot on him just as he would've got the ball, so no cert to score - 70/30 to score in my book.
Sin Bin & penalty would be my verdict - yes even if it was Snake that got tackled.

I agree that a penalty and 10 in the bin would have been sufficient.
There was still 20% uncertainty that he might not have scored.
On that basis, I don't think it should have been a penalty try.

Because GI plays for Souths and used to play for Melbourne, I think he should have received 10 in the bin and a penalty to Canberra.
