Say that last night was due to Souths loading for the finals? Which is fine by me.
Good article this morning by Malcolm Knox ridiculing this claim by the Boncos, and stated that, statistically, to win the grand final a team must win this round. That means, so far, goodbye Souffs and the Boncos, and welcome Manly and the Dogs! Of course, stats only record history, and records are made to be broken.
Manly have the pressure off them and they are playing with freedom, If Manly do get there they are going to be a nightmare proposition in that we have a combination of anger, hunger and will to do a lot of damage.
I think another thing helping Manly's cause is the knowledge that it's not the coach who wants to offload some of them. That power was taken away from Geoff before the start of the year, presumably as part of the Penn family's efforts to 'ringbark' Toovey's career. So there is no resentment towards the coach on the part of people like Willie, Ballin, Starling, Mateo, Hasson, Horo, et al - who are really putting in a big effort. As opposed to what happened at Parramatta a few years ago, after the 'Rickynado' ripped through that club. No doubt too, they collectively feel partly responsible for the coach's demise, horror injury run earlier in the year notwithstanding, and are now trying to make up for it.
