SMH article about Manly’s shambolic salary cap situation

It was reported extensively at the time that they took less to stay at Manly than what the Bulldogs offered.

IMO the so called Bulldogs offer was just to force Manly to pay more.

Quite strange Manly had to up the offer if the Turbos were accepting unders.

Makes DCE salary seem very good value considering he has missed like 6 games in 10 years.

Tommy misses double that every year.

You might be right about the Bulldogs squeezing Manly.

That was where the discussion regarding drastically reducing contracts were to occur. The discussion was this year, for their next contract, which begins in 2027. Whether you think they should get a next contract, fair enough.

They are offering next to nothing in '25, can't see it improving any in '27.

This article has been written by Seibold's manager to take some pressure off him for next year...... It certainly is setting expectations pretty low on who we can recruit because of our salary cap limitations as a results of the Urbos contracts. Next season will be another cracker ......

Could be history making. And not in a good way.

So the way I see it the chance for improvement next year lies in some young players breaking out.

Our stocks aren't bursting at the seems in the regard so not wildly optimistic.

Obviously that may change with medical retirements to any of Jake, Aloiai or Crokes.

2027 is the year though and we have a real opportunity to set ourselves up for success.

Need to made the right calls there.
Exactly this - Plus 1 decent forward signing, combined with minimal injuries

Maybe the chance for improvement lies with the coach, what are the chances?

see how they are trying to blame Des. What a load of ****.
Imagine if in 2019 we had of lost Jake or tom they would have burnt down the southern stand. None of this is drs fault. All Penn, ceo Messedup and seilbold.

Look at the kids we lost from those fracking junior rep sides of 2022
All 3 Faunus, weekes and humphries
Seibold let youth go for Moses rejects who were past their prime. This is why we are ****ed now. Des had of stayed we would have been a contender in 2023 and beyond.

Seibold would be loving all this. Just more excuses he can hide behind. We are not a results driven business, we are an excuse driven business.
The media hate Manly. They are loving our present situation. The Seibold sympathy suits their anti Manly sentiment, knowing he will likely help dig a deeper hole.
