Siua Taukeiaho Signs

Leaving aside your obsession with virility (not sure how you think females manage to pay rugby league??) ... Manly does sign plenty of young forwards with potential.

The likes of Bullemor, Kelma Tuilagi, Ben Condon, Aitasi James, Burbo, Schuster, Pua'avase, all signed by Manly when aged 21 or 22 or even younger. But clearly not every young (virile, lol) player with potential makes the grade (and some who do, take longer to get there.)

Also it's good to have premiership winning experience in your squad. I'm sure that was a factor in why Des signed Josh Perry, Shane Rodney and Joe Gulavao back in the day.
We do have youth
and we also have older experienced players as well
I was just saying I would rather Invest in healthy players with potential than invest in a past their prime injury prone Crooks

There is a reason why These well passed their prime injury prone Crook players are on the market for a roll of the dice gamble Trial and Train contract

It's the same thing with the current Penrith squad who already have the player nucleus, mindset and knowledge of what it takes to win Grand Finals... So they can get fringe or average first grade players to walk into their squad and become premiership winners. Look at Alamoti, Garner, Momirovski, Sorensen, and others.

The difference with us is that despite all of our representative stars that we have, we're still looking for a player to "unlock" the rest of the squad and make us premiership contenders. I would suggest that this mentality is a bit wishful given the amount of salary cap space we have (or don't have) to work with.
100%
Still hunting for 30% of our game plan with 6 % of cap space
Its on repeat , groundhog day

Do you remember when he came , from Penrith ??

I do , he was slammed from end to end on Silvertails , too old , too slow , too injured.

Ended up being a fabulous acquisition.

26 years old and coming off a grand final win? Surely not. He's a dual premiership winner.

What 100 % certain is
How much a coach can get out of a player roster
We have a Bloody Good roster . The rep teams validate this
We dont have a Top coach
If Seibold got sacked 2morrow
Who would rush to sign him ?
Who would make him a priority to win their club a premiership ?

May is Samoan, and toured with the Samoan team in the UK, but we certainly are supplying a lot of players to the Tongan team, Throw in former players like AFB and Suli and it's a very big influence.
He's represented Tonga 15 times..??

Please don't say names like Bennett,Cleary or Bellamy who are currently contracted.

Jesus, that strike rate is as bad as me in a beauty contest !!

Tevanga, Taukeiaho, Waddell, Brown , Aloiai, Sipley.
Maybe Bateman. Call me a synic but I'm just not seeing a premiership in that lot.
Tend to agree, unless someone turns out to be a real surprise packet. Lots of mid range signings, but nothing much to excite.

I mean, fair, but cherry picking mostly fringe or depth players is generally going to give the same outcome.

Likely scenario is 2 of the above...maybe 3 are in our top 17.

We dont even have confirmation Waddell is signed yet and Jazz and Suia are 1 year deals. Maybe moves are afoot for 26.

Nah. But...try closing your eyes ... and use your imagination...
I'm sure you recall plenty here saying 'Gifty is average and too small', back when he managed a mere 19 games over 4 seasons of NRL.
Glen Hall was supposedly a reserve grade journeyman who averaged less than 6 games per year over 5 NRL seasons, before coming to Manly.
Mark Bryant was routinely the whipping boy for every average Manly performance.
In fact so was Jason King, often enough.
All of which proves... absolutely nothing. But ... if you did actually close your eyes, hopefully you're asleep by now. @:D

At times through out the year our forwards dominated some of the top teams forward packs. Just need to be consistent and with plenty of depth the boys will need to compete to play first grade

Mitch Kenny, Scott Sorensen, Liam Garner, Liam Henry, Lindsay Smith. Would you see a premiership in that lot? Or look at the Melbourne forwards who played in the grand final (ok I know they didn't win) They play to a system that works and the players are interchangeable. We need to highlight players that fit with how we want to play rather than just signing someone because they're available

I’d swap Aloiai & Brown with Jake & Brbo!
There’d be plenty to like with Paseka, Olakau’atu, Sipley, Aloiai, Brown, Bullemore, Bateman, Taukeiaho, Navale, Patolo?

That's great.

How we want to play doesn't tradionally win comps though.

The V'Landys era may give us the best chance in fairness, though I'm completely perplexed why we are not chasing more mobile forwards....and seemingly cant/won't extend one of our very mobile middles in Bully.

They'd all have to step up a few gears. Paseka and Olakau'atu were hardly sighted last weekend for Tonga.
