Siua Taukeiaho Signs

Regain some of his form? He played 0 games last season, and 10 the season before. We are looking at 22 at BEST form wise.

I just wish we'd address gaps / holes. That's all.
Ha, no, sorry just a little joke that Rodney (as much as I live him), is a little out of place amongst the other players you listed.

Great player but listed amongst some Manly legends.

Great signing for peanuts

The guy will be motivated to show something, like BFB.
Good morning feathered friend
The key word from your post is PEANUTS

There is an Old but Gold saying
You pay peanuts
and what do you get ???

He may well be the slowest, but how many of these fast forwards do you see getting their fingertips to the ball in the 78th minute to push the match winning field goal wide ?
Plenty mate. Like I said love him but I’m tired of all our other forwards copping it yet Jrbo seems to do nothing wrong. In my opinion we have a good pack of forwards & are showing improvement. There’s no need for favouring Jrbo & blaming others for lack of go forward. Truth be told I think Brown, Aloiai & Olakau’atu were our best forwards this season. But it is just my opinion!

My description of his last 2 years playing history is... only played 10 games in 2023 and was out injured the entire 2024 season.
Maybe the injury is a positive as it could have allowed him to rejuvenate his body..maybe.

I like this move, with the fact it's a small contract and he will need to prove himself.
Even at 32 he is a mobile mover in attack and offers a quality offload.
No doubt with minimum footy last season and injuries there is risk, but his time out of the game to recuperate is a good way to replenish and add a good "final spell" to his career and if he comes with good intent, will be appreciated by Silvertails faithful in 2025

I don't mind this signing. Worth the risk.
I have always rated taukeiaho and have always thought he'd be good at manly. Even at 32 yrs old and on a 1 year deal I'd like to see how he goes. He has played with some of the best in the game. Cronk, Tedesco, Sonny Bill etc etc. And how many premierships has he won. He knows what success looks like and what it takes to get there

Agree, mate. I'm not ready to anoint him the next BK just yet, but he should have a positive impact on the playing group as a whole. Not a huge risk for potentially a lot of reward.

Thank you for your Aaron Woods signing perspective point of view feathered friend @Stuey D

Aaron Woods was arguably one of our most ineffective player signings
If this signing is simply Aarons replacement then It is simply not a signing that will make difference
Aaron woods could've played the whole of last year whilst wearing his cap.

Jake does a huge amount of off the ball work that is often overlooked.

He was up towards the top of the comp of push support plays. That doesn't show up on that stat sheet and doesnt bring accolades but it constantly engages the defense and helps create space often for a play or two in advance.

Basically he sacrifices himself for the team.

Would be easy to sit back, not do all the 1%ers and simply wait for your 10 hitups to make a bit more of an impact on the stat sheet, but Jake has always been and will always be team first, Manly first.

Shame he is under appreciated for it.

Looks like can have a bit of confidence in the Taukeaiho signing if the Manly performance staff have essentially given a positive or relatively positive medical assessment .
Obviously had that previous reputation as a quite mobile forward so should still have retained the majority of that attribute .
Then in the context of replacing the likes of Woods , Lodge and Condon and if he does measure up to whatever expected requirement and still have something to hopefully offer , all good .
Looks like very problematic with the May [ or potential ] signing now

He was washed up when the Chooks let him go years ago. Since then, he has gotten older, slower, found more injuries and played less footy.

He is a on a train and trial so I have no problem with the contract itself; it’s not like he is not being recruited to lead our forward pack…but I’m not holding my breath that he will transform our fortunes. Even if he peaks, he is not going to be the missing piece of a premiership puzzle.

Jake does do a lot of work but he has also been overlooked at the elite representative level
I hope this fires him up to find a way and get back up there

Manly confirm gamble on injury prone veteran as Sio Siua Taukeiaho signs

Nine World Sports ....

Taukeiaho was one of the most consistent front-rowers in the game in his nine years with the Roosters but is now 32 and has played just 10 games in the past two seasons - and none in 2024.

The veteran prop was dogged by a nagging foot injury and eventually underwent surgery midway through this year.
He is on a train and trial deal with Manly - similar to the one on which they signed tough forward Nathan Brown this season.
But he has been given extensive medical checks and cleared by the Sea Eagles' high performance staff to resume full training.

Taukeiaho agreed to play for the Bulldogs last season but the injury continued to hamper him and he never took the field.

He agreed to a train and trial with the Sea Eagles on Friday and will formally sign a contract next week.
He then only has to get through the trials to earn a spot in the club's 30-man roster.

"He is big, strong and experienced and will add something to us," a Manly source told Wide World of Sports.

"He lives in the area so it's handy for him and he should be great for our young forwards."

Retirement gift, nothing more, nothing less. Use those funds to convince Sam Fainu to return to us. Now THAT'S a player I could back. In fact, use those funds, and Tevaga funds. And Schusters 600k profit odd. Surely that gets us Sam (perfect replacement for Josh) and we don't have to keep rehabbing Taukeiaho.

Tell me that's not a superior strategy?

11. Haumole Olakau'atu
12. Samuela Fainu
13 Caleb Navale

That's a 2024 backrow/lock core.
