Sironen Gone

Kind of sad, but possibly best option for both parties moving forward, it’s never good to lose quality depth, but the nature of the game is forcing out the older gen players, youth, speed it’s just a fact of the game these days, thanks Curtis and all the best in the UK, lets hope we send you out as a member of the premiership winning squad.

No big suprise - has done well at Manly, but best form was 2 years ago....will rejuvenate his career in England and his choice to play at Manly was smart, as now his pay day will rightfully be far better than coming from a bottom team

Not digging the boot into the Siro because he obviously has had some injury troubles over the years but his career has been a bit of a disappointment. When he first came on the scene it seemed it was only a matter of time before he was a regular fixture in rep sides. A big body with all the skills, there's been so much waiting around for the big explosion that never came. All of the sudden he is 29 and that's pretty much it for him in the NRL...a real shame.

Pretty respectable run here at manly. Got better until his knees outdid him last season and was often one of our most important leaders when he played (leading by example)

Definitely the right choice and hope this means we have plans for Davey to be a part of our bench next season

How good is that, partnering up again with Joel Thompson also. Loved the partnership they had at Manly last season, they were the form second rowers of the comp.

Telecrap todays says he will be replacing the retiring Thompson ... but will link up with another ex-Manly player Will Hopoate ..

Wish him well and thanks ... I will always believe that he only reached 80% of his potential ..

Not just me, I remember J Johns saying this also.
Edit: in saying this I still think Siro was a good manly player over his time with us (posted about it above)

To be honest I think our back row was our major weakness in 2020. Siro was great whenever he played before then and so was Thommo and Jake so their 2019 reputation stuck with them in the minds of many (myself included until I kept seeing the same performances week by week)

In 2020 it felt like many of us were constantly posting about how it was only AFB and to a lesser extent Taupau doing the carrying and that our backrow was frequently looking invisible, making minimal metres and producing many unremarkable, predictable plays.

Jake slowed down, Thompson’s time was obviously up (even though he was still trying hard) and Siro was hitting hard but by the end of the year became a sitting duck in defence with his knees and a one trick pony in attack (unders ball off dce angled back inside)

All the best to Sirro.

You can't keep everyone and given his age and history of injuries, probably a good move.

He's going to make better coin in the ESL anyway.

A better player than Jetski so you'd think he'd be making plans for next year but not at Manly.
