By: Mr Peter Peters.

Since we stood up to the NRL over the Brett Stewart fiasco we’ve had everything thrown at us.

FROM March 2009, when the owners and board refused to buckle under financial threats from the NRL over the game’s then pin-up boy, Brett Stewart, the Sea Eagles have been on a collision course with the game’s hierarchy.

The NRL wanted the club to stand down Stewart until he appeared in court over what proved to be untrue allegations but the club stared down the NRL and allowed the young fullback his democratic right and day in court.

His acquittal of the charges never drew anything resembling an apology from the NRL or its then boss David Gallop, to Stewart or the club.

Since then the club has had everything possible thrown at it, from alleged match fixing and salary cap rorting to the current slapping of a $20,000 fine for post-match comments made by coach Trent Barrett following Saturday’s sudden death semi-final loss to Penrith.

None of the above have been determined as being true yet Manly remain under heavy fire.

If you are going into siege mode it's best to have the drawbridge up. Too late for us now as the Panthers already stormed the Fortress and pillaged us. This article would have been better a week ago. It's pretty much true though, can't stand Gallop because of the way he crucified Snake - spineless little twerp.

As you know I'm not a Zth fan, but I do agree with what's been written , we've been under siege ever since the 2008 GF final win.

This is just a rehash of an eight year old story 😎

Manly need to focus on what they can control - staffing, rebuilding Club Culture and winning footy games irrespective of Refs :wait:

Zorba's right.
Z apparently raised the factually flawed report that confirmed the NRL's worst suspicions about the Manly Wharf incident. That was the basis for their desire to have him stood down. Not the other allegation.

Bit of history being rewritten right there.

Paradoxically, I did like the article. But HM's right. The organisation can't go on living in the past. Time to move on.
