No disrespect but where have you been the last ten years?….nothing has changed injury incompetent players and inconsistency…many players and coaches have come and gone but the rot hasn’t followed because the main tumour is the owner and until he is gone we will never be where we once were..he is responsible for giving the nod to Dce Tom and Jakes salaries in the hope the dynamic trio would bring home a premiership well all that’s done is given us an unbalanced roster that breeds all 3 i’s I mentioned above
I’m not necessarily agreeing that we are in a premiership window, but that has certainly been the expressed view of Mestrov and Seibold, a view which no doubt has only been strengthened once DCE announced its his last year. If that is their view, consecutive poor losses to other top 4 contenders should prompt action. I believe that action should be to make Jake captain.

It’s easy in hindsight to blame Penn for signing DCE, Tom and Jake to long term contracts, but if he hadn’t done so and let any of them walk at the times of their respective contract extensions, he would have been lynched from the back of the Jane Try stand. Not his fault Tom is injury prone, Jake is one dimensional and DCE has proven not to be the effective game manager all premiership teams require. In any event, I’m pretty sure any owner takes advice and recommendations on player contracts from CEO’s and football managers, so to my mind that is where the majority of any fault lies.

As to where I’ve been, supporting Manly since 1973.

Tom needs to be playing for us to have a 2025 premiership window. And our forward pack barring Ola isn't a top 4 forward pack.
Correct we need no injuries to be even a slight chance to win premiership and we all know the story of an unbalanced roster when you rely on 3 stars…1 who pretty much gets injured every year and derails us another who is inconsistent and lastly 1 who can’t bend the defensive line…Yepp that’s right and all for the ripe price of 3m…any team interested?…if you call now we will throw in a Burbo for free

1973 awesome well you should know what I am saying then🙂

No doubt you were loudly protesting when we signed each of DCE, Tom and Jake. Amazing how you could predict how each of their careers would pan out way back then. Who’s your tip in the second race at Randwick tomorrow?

I wish I had that ability when it comes to betting lol🙂…I am prob known as a broken record cause for at least 9 years I have been saying we won’t win another premiership with dce lol

I'm currently very pessimistic. I don't see us winning this weekend, then we play our bogie team St George followed by a desperate Penrith then Cronulla again. I can see us having five losses on the trot including last weekend. Then we will be in crisis mode.
I reckon we'll jag one of those 4 but can't see more than that.

And to play the rest of the year.

Dunno but I have a sneaking suspicion he’s cooked for 2025
When he does come back we all know he's only a game away from another injured fill in the blank e.g knee, hami, shoulder, ankle bla, bla, bla. He wants to play you can see the anguish and frustration on his face when he knows he's fucekd again. I feel sorry for him and us. His body just can't take it. I reckon we'll get 10 to 12 full games out of him this year.

It’s incredibly sad , such a talent.

Not too different to Will Pucovski ( spelling ???) who recently retired from cricket. A massive talent , could have opened for Australia for years.

But not to be.

I wonder are we headed towards this inevitable decision in the near future

Imagine the frustration of being so good at a sport or anything, spending all that time getting your body right and then for it to let him down time and time again ..... He's a walking time bomb.

All I feel , for the boy himself , is just sadness.

To be THAT good , and then to be THAT vulnerable.

Can’t imagine how that would be

Yeah, rugby league is a tough sport, and you need to be tough to play it. And the fact that Tommy keeps getting back up after every injury and every extended period of rehab to go again shows just how tough he really is. Most of us would have chosen a different profession a long time ago.

The fact that he's such a champion genuine great bloke makes it all the worse ......
