It seems tough Woman don't need balls to play the tough game
They are mentally tough enough .

My point is
In the Old days players had a fulltime job then went to training and backed up on the weekend after SOO games
Three SOO games with weeks breaks in between did not break their resilience

You're right, but my counter point would be that the old days have no bearing on the current NRL - comparing apples and oranges (both nice but very different)

Sharks got millions and millions for all the development at their ground. Their leagues club is still not opened and no one says where all the cash has gone. But they all still whinge and moan and put out their hands for cash. F#ck the sharks. Nothing will happen at Brookie whilst ever the teals are around, they have no say at all now.

And yet no one can come up with a credible alternative. I agree it does throw a spanner in the season but it is the most lucrative money spinner for the NRL and it’s a massive point of difference for the sport. So it’s not going anywhere. And all other alternatives have serious issues.

Once the league gets 20 teams in, things will be a lot fairer. Less NRL games, play each other just once, more time for origin and other rep games. That’s what their stated aim is.

I can cop the origin period but every team should see at least one bye pre an origin match. The fact we are playing three games without players is a bit rubbish this year.

That said the teams we are playing we really should beat. Souths at home should be a lock really.

It was tougher back then for the players in the Old days
They had fulltime jobs on top of their heavy game work load
These days players are fulltime players and are also more heavily protected from brutal play
These days players have wellbeing services , mental support etc . There was non of that in the Old days .
Back then the game was more brutal . No slow motion 10 cameras around the ground to check for head highs and kneed in the back . Theses days a play gets accidently slapped in the face and the offender is marched off the field .
That is the only difference is see and we will agree to disagree 🙂
