Given it was Seibolds call, I’d say it demonstrates how desperate he is for us to remain competitive. Surely even the diehards will desert him if we miss the 8.I think this demonstrates how desperate we are to remain competitive this year. We have paper thin depth and no answers.

Yes but you seem to think it's a one size fits all type of situation whereby every dislocation has a 90% chance of recurring which isn't true. For starters, Howarth doesn't require future surgery and was only expected to be sidelined for a month. Very different to playing a guy who did require future surgery and expecting him to get through two months of football in the hopes of making the finals. Gambling he will be the one in ten guy who somehow pulls it off. Not to mention the possibility of him doing even more serious damage to the shoulder which is a distinct possibility.Storm's Jack Howarth another one, dislocated shoulder in R7, decided to rehab instead of season-ending operation, returned in R13 and (so far) has not re-injured it.

If we were playing to get into a Prelim or GF then I could understand it. Bellamy no doubt would make that choice if Hughes gets back for finals. Cronk for the Chooks, Cleary for the Panthers. All very different to trotting out the big O yesterday with a 90% chance of recurrence.
