Seibold presser ..

Totally disagree with this. The coach has PLENTY to answer for. Do you think if we had Bellamy or Bennett as our coach we’d be going the way we are? Sure we’ve got some injuries and players not playing to their full potential, but that’s the point!! Good coaches hold their players to account and GET THE BEST out of whoever is on the field. Take Souths over the weekend for example. Our team is capable of playing VERY WELL. we’ve seen it just last week. But we’re totally inconsistent and have no resilience. We’ve got plenty of talent but no will to win. And that comes squarely on the coach. And also on our captain who has played pathetically for the main, since announcing to the world that he doesn’t want anything to do with the club beyond this year.
Totally agree, but plenty on here are convinced Seibold is not the problem, despite all the evidence to the contrary. Bellamy was going ape **** in the box when the storm were up by 50 against wests, because it looked like some of the players were taking things a bit casually. By contrast, Seibolds blank face has never changed in the coaches box once that I’ve seen in his total time at the club, apart from a self satisfied smile when Tom has done something. Bennett has always been implacable, but you just know the players know who’s boss behind closed doors.

At least he didn't say he was proud and start making excuses. Said the errors killed us, not just at 14-all but all through the game. Said we weren't good enough, which is true. But he doesn't look like a man who is confident he has any answers. Instead, he looks like a coach who thinks his players are letting him down.
That was my exact thoughts when I watched it. I watched because I wanted to see what his and DCEs body language was like, and it was horrible! A real lack of enthusiasm and a distinct vacant lost look. Hardly inspiring.

Mate Siebold is not the problem! This year started well only to be destabilised by one DCE! His mind is no longer on getting Manly to the finals, rather the brown paper bags of riches awaiting him in Bondi Junction. The sooner he’s gone the sooner we can get back on track. For mine Siebold had the team primed at the start of the year….we started well & then bang Mr Longfellow Deeds decides at the end of round 3 it’s time to stick it up the club & knowingly fu<k any chance we had of a successful year. I’m so disillusioned to the point i’d like to see him limp off against the Cowgirls with a torn hammy & not return this year. Good riddance, Sayonara, Bye Bye, don’t let the door hit your ar$e on the way out of Brookvale. As you can tell I have lost any respect I had for the guy.
What evidence do you have that Spoon can coach?

Is it a couple of wins to start a season? Are we March premiers now?

Is it his innovative use of the bench whereby he leaves a skinny winger sitting on the pine for 80 minutes?

Is it his inability to get the team up and firing after a 15 day break?

Is it his lack of balls to strip DCE of the captaincy after what he did to the club on tv?

What is it? Make me a believer.

There are still coaches who don't have the clout in the game, therefore pander to players wants so to minimise risk of player fallout, and we know who wins those battles.

I think Seibold has been going OK, but this season is turning on him quickly.
Do ya reckon the broncs would be interested in a coach swap? I mean, they are familiar with Seibs and all. 😉

I think it’s the way he always turns up to games in a dark blazer, no tie and with one shirt collar out, one tucked in. It screams professional. If you’re not going to wear club colours, at least don’t turn up like an RSL club president after a night on the turps. If you watched the storm v wests game, the injured storm players in the stands were better presented than our coach. And I’m only half taking the piss. It’s only a minor thing, but it reflects on bigger issues like standards.

Siebold is fast approaching that wretched deep end of being indefensible. Des has 5 GF appearances and a couple of premierships to fall back on. He has also been playing most of the season without his two first choice halves and his fullback.

Good luck putting a positive spin on the team and our coach. I think you are going to need it.
It's just too easy to blame the coach and think that getting rid of him will suddenly fix our problems. He's just a scapegoat, we've been down that path and sacking coaches gives a sugar hit but it hasn't / doesn't fix the problems of a stingy owner, **** forward pack and an unbalanced salary cap. Not even Bellamy or Bennet can quickly fix the mess that is Manly at the moment.

Maybe, maybe not, but at least Bennett and Bellamy would be doing something. Our coach doesn’t seem to have any answers or plans.

But was our defense the problem?

It seems to me our defense has been better since the rot set in and our attack has been garbage (except when turbo was firing against the panthers).

I remember thinking earlier this year, the other side has the ball near our try line so they are going to score. If that was still the case, we would be losing by a lot more.

We let in tries but only after sustained pressure from attacking disasters.

Well, if you think there is nothing wrong with our defensive structures, our effort on effort and our D in general, i guess you and Spoony can drop down to Macca's and celebrate on a job well done.

Nothing more I can say if you can't see our deficiencies.

I agree in part. However, the coach still plays a very big part in a teams overall performance and the habits they display on a regular basis. Look at what Wayne is doing at the Bunnies with a huge injury list and the same squad as last season.

Listen to his press conference last week when he had a bunch of fill ins playing. He didn't make any "we had a free shot at the stumps" like comments. Instead he suggested that if the players wanted to be paid like first graders then they needed to perform like first graders. He dropped Tatola to reserve grade and the Bunnies responded this week.

Des had no qualms dropping Fifita and again the players responded.

Spoon is a nothing changes no where man coach. Scarred and scared.

I'm not saying it is dogs standard but I don't think it's been our biggest problem lately.

Nice job bringing personal insults into it by the way. Classy.

We have heard all the lame excuses from Seibold not unlike the Trent Barrett ones.
Some of the players aren’t playing up to a first grade standard, they lack consistent commitment, creativity in attack and determination.
I look at how Bennett can weave his magic and turn teams around but I’m afraid Seibold hasn’t got that factor.
The tension between Seibold and DCE after the game you could cut with a knife and that is a grave sign.
Where to from here,I’m not sure but the supporters will never get the answers that we deserve and that to me is disrespectful.

Apologies for that.

I was just trying to make my point sarcastically that we are a long way off in our D. That the dogs is so much better than us is embarrassing.
This can only be attributed to the coach and Mestrov in our recruitment.

Our attack is fine, however it will never get us out of trouble in clutch games if our D is not in order.

Thank you.

And yes, I saw the way the dogs defended in the second half against the raiders. Very impressive, and we are nowhere near that.
