Simpkin’s defence is a real worry though. Opposition middles pick him out and love destroying the middle of our ruck. He’s willing but not all that effective. I prefer his attack to Croker but even that’s limited. He gives decent service and has a dart but I’ve noticed he often gets the ball in attacking positions, and he’ll struggle to make up his mind when he should just pass and he ends up dying with the ball; it’s very frustrating.

I think he’s been really solid but I also don’t think he’s a long term answer.
True story 100% as quoted "no world beater" - just an obvious upside service wise and though not fast at all, takes advantage of opposition when defence not set or markers not in position, as any 9 should do more than ever in the modern game

We hopefully got the last year of an overpaid, underperforming halfback. Unfortunately I don't think we will right the ship until 2027 when we can also bring online pay cuts for the Trbojevics and be nearer the end of the Schuster payments.

Never though I’d be envious, but to see them rebuilding, with a coach the boys love and the upside it’s bringing, it’s depressing….
They will challenge for a title in a few years time the finally looks like they have got there club in order.
Us we are becoming the new West tigers dark days ahead

I don’t think it’s all dark , although agree , 2026 is pitch black.

I think what we might see by 2027 is.

Potentially only Turbo of the “ big 2”, and at a much lower value, Jake won’t last much longer and if he is still there it’ll be on low dollars.

Most of the plodders gone ( if not all )

A new coach ( cannot see the current one lasting more than another year )

End of the Schu payments

Some of our current younger players becoming more established.

So rather than “ dark “ maybe 2027 onwards could at least be considered “ grey”.

If Manly win by at least 50 points per game in their last 2 games and Roosters lose their last game by at least 6 points then Manly will make 8th 🤣🤣🤣 anything is possible with DCE... also Dolphins to lose at least 1 from their last 2 games

The unfortunate part is the impact the new clubs will have on inflating player salaries at the time we have some room in our cap.

A definite downside.

But if there’s a good thing , it’ll affect the clubs with the superstars coming off contract even more than us.

Meaning they’ll have to pay much much to keep them

we learnt that at this rate, Manly wont win the title for at least the next decade.
When the current so called stars of the game Turbo Brothers and DCE are well and truly gone, the rebuilding can start. who knows, we may even become the new age parramatta eels.
Good times never lasts, the memories of the 70s,(Golden years) and some success from 80s to 2013, may never appear again. The game is all about betting $$$ nowadays, just like in other sports.

We learnt that our weapons are somewhat outdated and well behind those being developed in super power teams like Melbourne, Penrith, Canterbury and Easts. Oh yeah, and our Generals are useless.

Honestly until we find a super rich benefactor you are probably right.

Mr Fluffy doesn’t cut the mustard for success just cuts the mustard for mediocrity and making up the numbers.

Ok bombed try... its still 18-6 and also another one after that bombed by Saab... Gallen said Manly should be up by 30 but they don't deserve to be in the finals 🤣
Ok half time 22 - 6... they just need to score another 34 points and then they make finals history 🤣 with DCE anything is possible
