Season Errors

NRL website has a list of 50 players with the most errors for the season of the fist 28 on that list we have 7. Thats a solid 25 % of an elite list, in a game of where possession is key. Des will address that issue, and next season added respect for the ball with a more clinical and methodical approach our strike will make us very dangerous. We need to reign in the risky plays and win more games by less points in my opinion.

The fact we have so many on the list suggests to me it is a team characteristic rather than inept individuals. A little tweaking is needed, maybe to cut out those most high risk plays (whatever they are).
Other side of the coin of course is that we scored more long range tries than any other team!

I am more concerned about how brittle and lacking in resilience our defence is at times. Sure, dropping the ball can add to defensive workload, but we would concede tries even when not fatigued. We’d go set for set early on, and then one mistake and we would fold…

If we become one of the best defensive teams in the comp, then the errors in attack won’t matter so much. To be in the top 3 defensive teams in the comp should be one of our goals for 2022.

Off to a flyer , we lead this stat again and have 3 players in the top 15. Seibold needs to reign them in a bit and soon. If we cough it up like last week the Panthers will lap us.

High error rate and a lack of discipline is not new to us and sadly has remerged in 2024. It contributes significantly to us leaking points and getting gassed in defence. For mine it is a state of mind and a self discipline issue. I know they are trying to play an expansive game in attack and like shift the ball wide from their own territory but when playing off the back of errors you need to reset and get back into the grind and complete sets for a while. When senior players start making errors it is contagious on the rest of the side. For a side with a lot of strike on the park our attack looked benign on the weekend with an absence of directness. If we cant score then we need repeat sets and to build pressure. On a side note (pun intended) our systems in defence out wide are not working and I am shocked that by round 4 we still havent ironed them out.
