Sea Eagles reach 100 finals matches milestone

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles will reach another remarkable milestone in their proud history when they take to the hallowed turf of Accor Stadium on Sunday, September 15.

The elimination finals match against the Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs will mark the 100th finals game for the Sea Eagles since the club was formed in 1947.

Manly will become just the fourth club in the history of rugby league to reach this feat behind Easts/Roosters (116 games), St George Dragons (109) and South Sydney Rabbitohs (100).

The Sea Eagles have won eight premierships with the late Immortal, Bob Fulton, the most capped Grand Final coach with five appearances.

Ron Willey (1972, 1973), Frank Stanton (1976, 1978), Bob Fulton (1987, 1996) and Des Hasler (2008, 2011) share the record for most premierships as a Manly coach.

Manly also hold the record for the biggest winning margin in a Grand Final after beating the Melbourne Storm 40-0 in 2008.

The Sea Eagles have also proudly never won the dreaded wooden spoon.

Just having a look through it is interesting I think the club needs to revisit this list. They missed 1998 - Manly played Canberra at the then Bruce Stadium in the 1st week on the finals and lost 17-4. Unusual year because it was 10 team final series in a 20 team comp ( I think).

Well spotted.

It’s a very proud finals history that we do have. I’ll also chuck in there that we won our first ever finals match and that same finals run included a good win over St George not too long before they went on that run of winning 10 premierships in a row
