By the way I of course enjoy a red, and drink lots of it, but the Granges and Hill of Graces are purely for investment....except for one in a coupe of years.

I've never had the really top shelf of Aussie reds but I opened a 1990 Bin 707 for my birthday a few years ago. It was a leaving work pressie from long ago and was absolutely sensational. The one Ryan, Mata, Dan and I shared was a 1990 Bin 407. Nothing wrong with that one either!

Yes I love Penfolds as well, my fav there is St Henri Shiraz....and the 389 isn't bad as well for a more "budget" (not really) top shelf red. The Henscke Kyneton Estate Shiraz (now almost $100 so def not a budget red) is excellent as well. A couple of cheapie Reds that I think are great are, Wirra Wirra Church Block (a mix but really nice) and I buy and drink a fair bit of St Hallets Faith Shiraz....you can pick those up for under $20 and are good drinking.

I am salivating at the thought of the 98 Grange I must say but I have had a few and I actually think the Hill of Grace is better.....BUT at $500 a bottle for those two now....no thanks.

The 389 and St Henri are great drops, I've got a number of those at home. Also got a 95 grange. One of my favorites that is a reasonable price is the Jacobs Creek St Hugos.

Funny you should mention the Wirra Wirra Churk Block Mark, I bought a couple just the other week. Good drop.

TB, Phil and I are helping out in the morning if you and Kim want a lift. Send one of us an SMS and we'll work something out.
