I have nothing against SBW. His biggest crime was walking out on the bulldogs and surely anyone can understand and sympathise with that decision. It was a good decision. In a game where a contract means nothing and clubs and players regularly wriggle and negotiate out of contracts. Never have I seen a club or player pay such a financial price for his release so to me he has more than paid his dues.
Then not being allowed to come to the game because of the bulldogs for 5 years was a massive price in its self. If sonny bill proves to be a financial cash cow for the chooks and the league, you have to question the selfish motives of the bulldog club to deny the game a pay day to appease its own grudge with the SBW. In this same 5 year period they were guilty of the same actions by axing coaches and players with no apparent conscience
In saying that, while I wish SBW all the best, I am sick of hearing about the chosen one returning. Jamie Lyon was the best player in super league but still took time to adapt , Players like morley and ellis took time to adapt and they were all at the top of the tree and playing League
I don't rate union. It gives you the impression of a football game with crowds, anthems, teams passion, and the sense of occasion until seconds after kick off, when all the bravado and chest beating is put away as players virtually lay down. And this is what he has been doing for 5 years. League is fast paced, and he will feel the pace a lot this year
I hope he sticks around for a few years so the hype dies down, we see what he is made of and we get to watch him **** on the doggies. Now that's a promo Id like to see on TV
